Sam Houston State - Spring 2019

Published

As I was going through looking for threads of the programs I plan to apply for I didn't see one for SHSU Spring 2019 so I decided maybe I would go ahead and start one!

I am currently finishing my associates of science and associates of humanities from Palo Alto College in San Antonio where I currently live, then will hopefully have everything in line for SHSU application when it opens up.

I do still have to take my TEAS exam which I have scheduled for June 27, I am so nervous about cutting a great score to help with my chance of admission, especially since I won't have the extra point for being a SHSU student.

I'm excited to hear from others who will be the applicant pool as well and hopefully we'll be starting our nursing journey together, good luck to everybody!!!

In the email it also says my records are copied and not original? Which I got them from my doctors office when I was a kid with her signature on it at the bottom of the copy? So I'm confused as to what else they would want? The main thing I am for sure missing is my HEP B titers.

I would just call them if I were you. I wouldn't risk just waiting around confused

In the Lonestar thread somebody mentioned that Castlebranch was impacted by Florence & is operating at a reduce capacity.

We're all thinking that has to play a role in delayed admissions decisions this year. I'm really hoping some news will trickle down for us this week!

I received acceptance into the Lonestar program today!

A BSN program (SHSU/UTH) is still my first choice so I'm hoping for a similar email from one of them, but if not I am breathing a little easier knowing that I will be starting nursing school in January!

Same as well. I got accepted into ADN program at Wharton County Junior College. BSN is most definitely my firest choice. This week is going by so slow ):

Yes it is. I'm really hoping we hear GOOD news this week. :/

In the email immunizations I received, it said I had until October 5th to send in. So I'm not sure if they'll be prolonging the process of sending out acceptances/denials.

Yes! That is still exciting! I was speaking to an APRN and she said she did her associates in nursing first, then worked at a hospital and got her bsn in nursing which the hospital paid for. Then afterwards continued on to get her masters!! Longer process but still worth it I would say!

Oh yeah, good call. Well hopefully the next two weeks fly by (again!) lol. The waits for these BSN programs are brutal!

Yes, I am thrilled either way! When I set out on this journey last year my original goal was ADN, I just happened to complete my associates of science a lot faster than I thought so it put me in the pool of eligibility for BSN programs as well.

My big immediate goal is RN and I will absolutely be okay earning that with an ADN and bridging to a BSN after, but if it's in the cards to go directly into a BSN than I will be beside myself excited to jump right into that journey.

I wonder why they have some people deadlines for September 24 and some October 5. I have to respond to the ADN program by October 5. Does anyone know what will happen if you confirm at one school until hearing back from another? to accept another school?

I don't know, it makes me nervous though. I know some schools send out waitlists first (I don't know if SHSU does this) so I've been paranoid that since my items had to be turned in by Monday it might mean I'll be waitlisted (I guess better than being outright denied if it plays out that way). :(

I have to respond to my ADN program by Monday, I'm going to submit my intent to enroll with them then if I get a BSN spot I'll just email the director and surrender my seat for an alternate. I'm REALLY hoping to get good news from Sam.

I just wonder if I should go ahead & submit my fingerprints for the background check through the email I received from the ADN or if I should wait. I'm assuming the blue card from the BON will be able to be submitted to any school that accepts us but I'm not sure.

Has anybody talked to the school recently or asked about an estimation for results to begin being released?

I'm on edge over these results.

hey guys so we need to get a booster shot for hep if the hepatitis b quantitive came back low? Because I don't see that on the website. Don't want to get the shot if its not required
