Sam Houston State - Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

As I was going through looking for threads of the programs I plan to apply for I didn't see one for SHSU Spring 2019 so I decided maybe I would go ahead and start one!

I am currently finishing my associates of science and associates of humanities from Palo Alto College in San Antonio where I currently live, then will hopefully have everything in line for SHSU application when it opens up.

I do still have to take my TEAS exam which I have scheduled for June 27, I am so nervous about cutting a great score to help with my chance of admission, especially since I won't have the extra point for being a SHSU student.

I'm excited to hear from others who will be the applicant pool as well and hopefully we'll be starting our nursing journey together, good luck to everybody!!!

2 more weeks?! Last year the first round of acceptance letters went out today!!! This is terrible haha

I know!! Longest two weeks of our lives LOL! I hope we'll find out this upcoming week but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Has anybody gone ahead & done their BLS certification?

I was going to try to ahead and knock mine out but when I went to register through the AHA website it asks for an institution. I'm not currently working in healthcare so no employment to put down & of course haven't been accepted to a program yet.

Was wondering if anybody else ran into this and if so what'd you put?

Sam is my first Choice!!! I would love to get into UT, but I have a one year old baby and a two year old toddler so I'm not sure how stellar I would do at an accelerated nursing program chasing after my little ones LOL. Also even with traffic it's only 30 minutes away from my house! I wanted to apply to TWU but I missed the deadline, so here I am lol ! Wbu?

I'm still torn between SHSU & UT as for which one I prefer, I'll definitely be thrilled to be accepted by either! I have a four year old & one year old as well so I know the struggle! To make things more fun my husband is going through a huge career transition over the coming months as well, lol.

I am DYING with this wait right now, I'm just ready to know something from SHSU since I know UT will take a few months...

Yay!!! I'm so happy to see other fellow mommies going for nursing as well!! How long do you think we have to give SHSU our decision if we get in? We may find out an entire month before UT lets us know. I was told UT gives you 10-15 days to make a decision, will SHSU give us more time than that so we can weigh out our options?

I got a email stating i had one missing information on my immunization record and they're giving me until the 24th to correct it. They said Incorrect HepB titer? Can anyone inform me what that might mean. As in are my results incorrect or did they draw the wrong lab?

What titer did everyone have drawn for Heb B?

I also got an email but mine was for my record missing a Physician signature (they were pulled from the GA state registry & I guess I just didn't think to have them signed). I don't know if I'm gonna be able to request a new one signed in time.

Yes I also got that one. I requested it as well and there was no signature. I got it in 2011. So I think I am just going to get the shot again and get a signature. I don't want to miss anything or stop me from applying): what heb b titer did you use?? I am thinking about going to get it drawn again tomorrow.

I just had my quantitative Hep B titer drawn. I didn't get anything back on that so I'm guessing it was the right now. I'm super stressed now over this!

That's my problem I got qualitative ): so now I will have to draw it again hopefully it comes in on time. This just made the all my stress come back. I'm guessing we won't hear from them until the end of the month forsure.

I was so bummed when I read the email and thought for sure I had been passed over. I'm so thankful they're giving us a chance to rectify it and now I'm just hoping I can get everything back in correctly by Monday!

Wtf.... how stressful is this?! That was the most vague email ever !! I thought they would tell us exactly the problem, not leave me guessing! So I'm wondering is the issue that my records are a copy and not the original or is the problem that I don't have a signature? Some of us over 26 don't even have original records anymore and I have no idea who my physician was when i was 2 years old! And on top of that the email says we can't call to ask questions... ughh how rude. I'm still going to call anyway. I have until October 5th to turn those things in though

Yes, talk about cranking up the stress! We're a military family and have literally lived all over the world, tracking down my immunizations was not easy as is, so here I am scrambling to get a new signed copy of my state records from Georgia.

When I saw the do not call or email questions, I was like oh boy I sure hope I fix these issues correctly! They only gave me until Monday to get everything in, which I am doing everything in my power to ensure that happens!
