Greetings!
After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
EFC: 544
GPA: 3.9
Community service hours: 45
Location: GA
Hi all! I applied for the scholarship this cycle too. Hoping to hear back before August since my program actually starts this week. Anyone know when decision letters start going out?
They do not mail out decision letters but they send award or rejection emails. There are credit checks done between end of June & end of July. Award emails start going out first week of August, with the NP students & fulltime RN students as first recipients.
Hey so a quick question; I am also in a Direct Entry MSN program. It is three years long but 1.5 years to get your RN. I asked for the full three years. How much did you ask for?
Also for anyone: Do you guys know if there is a relationship between the # of years you ask for and your changes of getting aid? I asked for three years. When I called a couple months back the guy on the phone told me no it wouldn't matter but then I started to see some discrepencies on these pages. Thanks!
I asked for 1year...but that's because I'm going for an accelerated 1yr BSN program. It will not matter that u requested for 3yrs... it will just add an additional year to your obligated service yrs. I hope this helps.
Yeah I knew about the extra time commitment I just wasn't sure if it would affect my chances of getting the scholarship. Since my program is graduate entry, and I currently do not have my RN, does anyone know if I fall into a full-time RN funding preference of full-time NP funding preference? I know they are on the same tier but I'm still pretty positive NP students get funding first. Just trying to see where I fall in the midst of all the applications!
On the Application and Program Guidance PDF, it says:
"After creating an account, the applicant should use his/her Applicant ID # (not his/her social security number) on all required uploaded supporting documents" (pg. 30).
"The applicant must provide his/her applicant ID number generated by the application at the top of each document" (pg. 34).
"The applicant must include the Applicant ID number generated by application at the top of each document" (pg. 35).
Hope that eases your stress a little!
I'm stressed out now, I only put my ID number on my essays.
Well, that makes two of us. I saw these posts after the deadline so there was nothing I could do. I guess it makes me feel a bit better knowing that I wasn't the only one. I didn't think to look at the guidance pdf as I thought the application instructions were self-explanatory.
Hi everyone,
I am also patiently waiting on the nurse corps scholarship to process my application. I have a bachelors degree of psychology, and an ASN in nursing. I am currently enrolled in the bridge MSN family nurse practitioner program at George Washington University. My bridge course started a few weeks ago and my matriculation date for my nurse practitioner program starts at the end of August. I have an estimated EFC of 0, a nursing GPA of 3.86 and an overall GPA of 3.4. I will keep everyone posted if I see any updates to my account. Is there anyone attending a nurse practitioner program that has applied?

Hello Everyone!!!
Glad I found this page! I was just scouring over last year's cycle page. I am currently in an Accelerated BSN program and applied for the scholarship back in May. Although my EFC is higher than the max, the representative I spoke with told me to apply anyway. So, I'm hoping I have a good chance of getting the scholarship! Hopefully! Prayers for everyone! Hope we all get it!
