Nurse Corps Scholarship 2016-2017

Published

Greetings!

After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!

Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)

1 year AmeriCorps

1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents

5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)

EFC: 544

GPA: 3.9

Community service hours: 45

Location: GA

Verification form or the Authorization form?

Verification form, thank you!

I'm sorry for some reason, since my application is already submitted it won't let me go back to the list to download the form again. I would have to edit and resume MIT to do it and I submitted mine on April 4th I want to keep it as submitted early.. I'm sorry I thought I would be able to help

No problem, thank you though!

Breee93, I sent you a forward of the verification email request I sent my school. My name is in my email address, so don't tell anyone who I am! :ninja:

Hey Guys,

I am so nervous already.

Now it's just a very long waiting game. Good luck to everyone!

Hey everyone! I applied this cycle too and wanted to ask how you guys formatted your resumes. Did you have a few bullet points for each experience or did you write a short paragraph? Also, how many pages was your entire resume document? I have always been advised to keep my resume to 1 page, but now I'm wondering if I formatted it incorrectly for this application. Thanks!

I did bullets for my experiences and used my objective portion of the application to write a short paragraph. Mine is 1 page as well.

I hope I find out before I start August 29th that would be great! If I even get it that is. Does anyone know if they still notify you if you haven't gotten the award?

Hi all! I applied for the scholarship this cycle too. Hoping to hear back before August since my program actually starts this week. Anyone know when decision letters start going out?

I'm not sure they send a letter I've heard it is just an email so keep an eye on your emails! Good luck!

Did either of you post references to your definition of 'underserved community'? I'm not sure if they want a works cited to go along with that, I don't want to be disqualified for not including a reference lmao.

If you're citing anything you should always have a reference page. I did have a reference page. You'll be ok for citing & including a reference page :-)

I used bullet points & had 2pgs...one page is ideal
