Nurse Corps Scholarship 2016-2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Greetings!

After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!

Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)

1 year AmeriCorps

1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents

5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)

EFC: 544

GPA: 3.9

Community service hours: 45

Location: GA

No worries! I wouldn't have taken anyone else's word for it, either. You can always call them on Monday, like I did.

Edit: You can also join the conference call that's happening right now to ask questions. The info is on the main scholarship page of the hrsa website.

I am taking your word for it! It can't hurt to add ID numbers. And thanks for the reminder about the call, I'm listening now!

I typed them on the pdf after scanning to prevent any confusion when reading it.

TallMexican was that you who called in? :sneaky:

Yes lol. They didn't seem to like my question lmao. I'm just paranoid about the whole 'we disqualify you for any little thing'.

Mine was that last question about what they reimburse Im still not very clear on that. Do I still get my fafsa money I'm qualified for and then they pay my full tuition to the school anyway?

I'm sure they realize it is a very tedious process and that we are all paranoid about making silly mistakes. I doubt they were too bothered by the question.

I think they just wanted you to check the info pages and that it would depend on what your school requires compared to what they cover. As far as the fafsa part, I am not sure.

Did either of you post references to your definition of 'underserved community'? I'm not sure if they want a works cited to go along with that, I don't want to be disqualified for not including a reference lmao.

I did not use a specific quote from anywhere, so I didn't need to. I think a WC would be over the top for something like this (page limit alone would make this awkward), but who knows.

Does anyone know if we can use the electronic signature feature in PDF to sign our authorization form?

Not sure, but as far as I know it can't be saved... so I don't see how an electronic signature would be helpful.

Edit: sorry, thought you meant the verification form. Are you having trouble accessing a printer?

It's the scanning part I have problems with.. :banghead:

To the people who have sent me private messages with questions it won't let me use messages until I have 15 topics on here or something idk. But I don't have experience in nurse corps I have just done ALOT of research on it and can answer most questions. To Zibbie if you don't get awarded you can take out loans through fafsa and apply to the loan repayment scholarship after completion. This is what I will be doing if I don't get awarded as well. And another question I got about transcripts. It can be an unofficial or official transcript as long as it is your most recent and has your application ID and first initial and last name at the top of the page. All documents need to be in pdf. All documents must have application ID and name. Essays are 5000 characters or less but should be limited to 1 page only. If your school is not on drop down menu it is probably not accredited. If you are going to be full time or EFC is below the $5000 mark you are in first preference funding and good luck. You will not get repaid for any nursing school you have completed before July 1st 2016. I hope this clears up most questions for everyone again it won't let me private message. If anyone wants to send me an email it is [email protected] I will do my best to help. I was sure to heavily research all aspects of this before signing my first 2 years of nursing away.
