Nassau Community College - Fall 2018 (Evening)

  1. Hello,

I decided to start a thread for those who have been accepted into Nassau's evening session for this fall. There aren't many of us so I figured this would be a nice way to get to know each other before September and give each other advice. I personally, have no idea what to expect and will appreciate any information and advice. I am planning on working on the 2 page autobiography we need to bring to our interview. Anyone start it yet? Is there something specific they will be looking for? Also, anyone know what type of stethoscope they're going to purchase?

Look forward to hearing from you guys!

    Nancy

    Hello Nancy521

Thread moved to Schools/Colleges forum for the best feedback on the program.

Nancy, is a start. They want you to show them why you want to be a nurse.

I'm still waiting for the official letter before I start my auto-bio. Being accepted still hasn't hit me yet lol.
Does anyone know what hospitals are used for the evening clinicals?

    Hi everyone!

I'm really excited about the upcoming orientation/interview. I didn't receive my letter in the mail either, only the e-mail. I'm going to start thinking about the autobiography soon. It hasn't hit me yet. Congratulations to all of you who got in!

I believe Winthrop is the only hospital for the evening program. They don't give you an option like in day. I work in Garden City, so my commute will not be bad at all.

    Hi Krise87!
I saw in past forum that we should wear business casual attire for that day.

I didn't receive mine in the mail yet either! I think the email is what really counts though because it looks like an electronic copy of what they mail out anyway. Still hoping I get the physical letter soon though!

I was hoping for Winthrop! I live in Mineola so it would be super convenient. Do we get to choose or do they tell us? Does anyone know when we find out?

I think they just started mailing letters out yesterday. So it'll be a nail biting week even though we already got our emails.
Edit to add: we will find out the locations at orientation but I believe Winthrop is the only hospital offered for evening classes.

looking forward to getting to know everyone here!

That's really convenient since you will get home in only a few minutes. I live in Levittown so it won't be that bad. I think we find out all that good stuff at orientation. I'm curious to find out about the uniforms...all I know from prior threads is that they use some company located in Hempstead.

Yes, they use the place in Hempstead on Fulton st.. it already has the NCC logo the jacket... can't purchase anywhere else. And nursing shoes you can find elsewhere cheaper. Last time I wore some white shoes I found on amazon for 25 dollars and they were pretty comfy.
