are online MSN programs respected?

I am considering going back for my MSN and considering an online program for convenience. I want to know if employers (hospitals and universities) will respect my MSN if they found out I did it online. Does anyone have any thoughts about online MSN programs? Anyone know someone who has gone through an online MSN program? I am interested in teaching either in the hospital or for a college. Does anyone know of programs that offer the CNS completely online (I don't want NP).

I have one more week of class then I will graduate from Walden. :yeah:The road has been challenging, but well worth the effort. I will have my MSN with a specialization in education. Am currently working as a clinical educator with the local university; and they respect Walden graduates. While attending Walden, I continued to work full time, raise a son, who is a senior this year, and be a wife. If I had went to a brick and mortar institution, this would have not been possible. Online programs, if accredited, are respected.

Congratulations! I was originally supposed to complete the program now but won't complete it until April 2010-took 2-8 week breaks for my family. Glad I took the breaks but wish I could be done now :loveya:

Northern Arizona University offers an MSN in nursing ed. that is online. Benefits include that it is backed up by a "brick and mortar" university, and the tuition, even out of state, is reasonable.

Samuel Merritt has programs online. Its a private university (respected) and it's expensive but its online =)

I just wanted to say that since I originally posted, I am right now in my last semester of my online MSN. I have really enjoyed it. It was a lot of work, and if it hadn't been online I'm not sure I would have done it. I would encourage others to do online. I find that when people and students meet me and hear about all I am doing and wonder how I am doing it all, then I tell them its online--then they seem to give me more credit.

I also received my MSN from Walden. They are accredited, and I found it manageable. I would highly recommend it.
