Dreams of FNP Dashed by Cost
Do not give up! I will be paying the rest of my life....no kidding! Putting my MSN, and PhD together, I will owe > 100K when I graduate It is worth every penny! Maybe the government will excuse our loans (just wishing). With the nursing faculty shortage, they should forgive our loans. I do love teaching, unfortunately, the pay is terrible.

MSN Nurse Educator
Kelly, I attended Walden University online for my masters degree in nursing education. It was great, and you could always contact the instructors if you had questions. Hope this helps. I also did not have any problems with obtaining a job after graduation.

Capella University vs. Walden
I have to agree with you. I also obtained my degree from Walden in Nursing education. I am currently working at a BSN program. We are also in the process of developing a new curriculum. Everyone who finds out that my degree is from Walden, state that they respect the nurses from that program because they have a very rigorous curriculum. I am currently attending University of Phoenix for my PhD in nursing education.

Hating the "new grad" title!
Hello, Have you tried speaking with the nurse managers of these units? When I wanted a job in an ICU, I personally spoke to the nurse manger. I feel this might help with your getting hired; sometimes they can 'go over' the HR dept. Just a suggestion

Question for Instructors that have "been there"
You should have no problems finding a job as a nursing educator, since there is a shortage of nursing educators. To get tenured, you will need to have a docotrate degree. Also, NP's will be required to have a doctorate degree in the very near future. Hope this helps.

Where I teach, the state requires a MSN to teach in the LPN programs
