  1. Yes you can! I am currently attending the PhD in nursing at the Univ. of Phoenix.
  2. Do not give up! I will be paying the rest of my life....no kidding! Putting my MSN, and PhD together, I will owe > 100K when I graduate It is worth every penny! Maybe the government will excuse our loans (just wishing). With the nursing faculty shortage, they should forgive our loans. I do love teaching, unfortunately, the pay is terrible.
  3. Kelly, I attended Walden University online for my masters degree in nursing education. It was great, and you could always contact the instructors if you had questions. Hope this helps. I also did not have any problems with obtaining a job after graduation.
  4. I think that rural nursing should be a specialty
  5. I agree with you! Walden was excellent for MSN-Nursing Education.
  6. I have to agree with you. I also obtained my degree from Walden in Nursing education. I am currently working at a BSN program. We are also in the process of developing a new curriculum. Everyone who finds out that my degree is from Walden, state that they respect the nurses from that program because they have a very rigorous curriculum. I am currently attending University of Phoenix for my PhD in nursing education.
  7. No, only my MSN. The workload is not to rigorous, and I workded full time and had my son who played football in high school. It is very doable.
  8. Walden is an excellent. I obtained my MSN from them, they mail you all of the materials for each semester, and the professors will answer your questions in the same day. Great University
  9. Walden University graduate in Nursing Education in 09. Great university, books included and mailed before classes start. Prompt answers from professors.
  10. Hello, Have you tried speaking with the nurse managers of these units? When I wanted a job in an ICU, I personally spoke to the nurse manger. I feel this might help with your getting hired; sometimes they can 'go over' the HR dept. Just a suggestion
  11. I am a Walden graduate of the education track of the MSN. Graduated in 2009. It is a great school, and time will fly...so enjoy!
  12. You should have no problems finding a job as a nursing educator, since there is a shortage of nursing educators. To get tenured, you will need to have a docotrate degree. Also, NP's will be required to have a doctorate degree in the very near future. Hope this helps.
  13. Where I teach, the state requires a MSN to teach in the LPN programs
  14. Walden is great! I did the MSN in education, and have an excellent job at a private college. You will love Walden.
  15. Shari, You are almost done Just keep goin...... D. Furbee RN, MSN
  16. I finished my clases with Walden on Nov. 1st., and am interviewing with several different universities. It is a great university, with a great reputation, and I had plenty of time to do usual activities.
  17. I graduated from the RN-BSN online at WVU. Program is OK, but still had to go to the school for some tests and classes.
  18. Yeah, next week will be my final one at Walden :) It has been a great experience!
  19. I have one more week of class then I will graduate from Walden. :yeah:The road has been challenging, but well worth the effort. I will have my MSN with a specialization in education. Am currently working as a clinical educator with the local university; and they respect Walden graduates. While attending Walden, I continued to work full time, raise a son, who is a senior this year, and be a wife. If I had went to a brick and mortar institution, this would have not been possible. Online programs, if accredited, are respected.
  20. Just curious, I am in the practicum part of my MSN in education ; and am attending Walden. I too looked at less expensive schools, but in the end chose Walden. For the cost, they ship all of your books, class DVD, and everything you need for each class. The faculty at Walden are always easy to reach, and they always answer your questions. For me, Walden was the best choice. Sometimes, like many things, you do get what you pay for. Has she talked with anyone from Walden? I am sure they would answer all of her questions. Debra
  21. Actually, the research class was not too hard at all. I am in my last class before my practicum (YEAH), did not have to take stats due to the fact it was taken during my BSN completion. I am in the education focus, got my associate degree in 85, and am going to be 53 when I am finished. My current GPA is 4.0, and I work full time and have a 16 year old son and husband. So, you should not have too many problems. Walden has been the best decision made, in regards to continuing my education. Best of luck, Debra
  22. Hello, FSMFN is a good school, but a couple of their instructors are not very professional when you question their answers. I changed schools because of the unprofessional attitude of those instructors. Do not know if they are still with the school, but just letting you know. Best of luck with your degree
  23. Hello, The first term takes a little more time, 2 courses in 8 weeks. I work at the computer for about 2-3 hrs a day when I am not at work. When papers are due it takes more time at the computer. The first 2 terms were used to get use to the program, now I have my time adjusted, it is a lot easier. When you get one week done, you can work on the next week, but you can not post until Mon. Only 5 more terms to go
