Least expensive online MSN in education program
Hi thank to this site I was referred to Univ of Wyoming as an inexpensive option for those wishing to obtain aonline BSN. Now I have a colleague who wants an inexpensive MSN online program that is relatively easy to enroll in (no GREs) Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. She is not interested in a Walden, Kaplan or Excelsior type of program. Must be an accredited college. TY

Clients burning fingers when on smoking breaks...
Expecting the state surveyors any day now. I am concerned about two clients with burned fingers and stained fingertips from smoking cigs. I want to do careplans for these unsafe smokers but don't want to set myself up. They are not candidates for supervised smoking- they go out in the yard and smoke butts. I can't find cig holders in any of the stores. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. I am in Secaucus NJ if anyone knows where I could in fact buy cig holders....Phoebe

Ideas for guest speakers?
Thanks for your idea. I am hoping to not only get expert speakers, but those suffering from mental illness who are willng to share would also be great.

Ideas for guest speakers?
I have just accepted a position as Director of a 80 bed in-patient program. These are chronic, mentally ill clients. The unit is located in a long term care facility and has essentially been operating as a nursing home for displaced schizophrenics, etc. Anyway during my interview I was asked if I could arrange to have guest speakers come in. In my eagerness to receive an offer of employment, I of course said "sure". Now as I prepare for my first day on the job, I am wondering where do I start? Any ideas on who I could get to come in and present to our clients? I am in the Northern area of NJ. I am open to any ideas....thanks

Question for any DONs at ALFs
I am new to assisted living. My CMAs tell me they can give meds one hour before or one hour after. In my day it was 1/2 before or 1/2 after scheduled time. Sometimes it seems they are medicating one drug on top of another to get done and satisfy the restless residents. Is this what they are being taught? Is it OK in ALFS and LTC? I come from an acute care setting.
