I've never heard of one. I'd definitely be in it if there were one but I've researched and contrary to what might pop up on the google machine, there is not one.

Kaplan has one, but you have to complete clinicals on site. Their based out of san diego and south florida.

Specializes in Psych, LTC, Acute Care.

Most online RN programs require at least a LPN or Paramedic. I think that is the minimum requirement in NC.

Really? I could have swore I looked...hmm, I bet you have to be an LPN though. I'll check it out and post back.;)

The OP was asking for an associates degree online. Kaplan has an online nursing degree but it is for a BSN which means u would have to already be an RN (either diploma or associates degree).

There is no program where you can be joe blow with no nursing diploma or degree and step into an online nursing degree. You have to be some kind of nurse first (lpn, diploma rn, associate rn) then and only then can you do an online program...sorry OP no luck here.

Kaplan has an ADN program but it is not advertised on their website because it doesnt have full accrediation yet. If you call they will tell you about the program but you have to reside in either the san diego or south florida area. No you don't have to be a lpn or have any type of medical background to be accepted into the program. call and check it out or you can even check on here, there are couple of people who attend that post about the program.

Oh, unfortunately I'm not in the SF area, or I'd consider doing it. Hmm, but if it doesn't have full accred. then what would you education mean?

*your* education

i believe the way they attain full accreditation is if 80% of the first couple of classes pass the nclex

Specializes in Critical Care, Education.

Reality Check - in this competitive environment, with so few opportunities for new grads, what type of employer is going to hire a new grad (with no previous nursing experience/qualifications) from an online program????? Employment options could be negligible.

Specializes in NICU/Subacute/MDS.

You cannot learn your basic nursing skills online. You must have clinical (hands-on, supervised) experience for your ADN. How would you feel if your doctor had an online degree and did not have enough time to go to a school or hospital for hands-on exp? How about a pilot with no airplane experience? That vet about to perform surgery on your beloved pet? Some things you cannot learn online, no matter how convenient it may be.

Nursing is a skill. Like flying a plane or painting a picture. You cannot just read and know how to perform a skill, it must be practiced!
