This is what is on the FL state board of nursing website http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/info_RegN_Jan-March11.pdf maybe it hasn't updated yet, but I didnt hear that 5 out of 5 people passed. In the class that recently graduated none of them has taken the NCLEX yet, and the class before that there are people who still have not taken the NCLEX.

So Kaplan's NCLEX passing rate is down to 29.41%!!!!!! I'm torn between dropping out of this crappy school or just finishing it and pay out of pocket for my own review classes. Are there any other current students out there and how do you feel about this?

That is true, but who wants to spend another 30k for a RN-BSN program

I am in the same position as you and have the same exact feelings toward the program. I knew from the beginning the program was not accredited but we were always told it would be shortly and not to worry. Now that I am finishing up with the program, I find out that there are several states which would not allow my RN license (If I do obtain one) to endorsed until the program is accredited. I wish I would have known that from the start, my whole intent was once I finish school to move out of the state. Another thing with the school not being accredited is that we woud have a very difficult time trying to transfer these credits if we wanted to further our education. Im so frustrated at this point.

i believe the way they attain full accreditation is if 80% of the first couple of classes pass the nclex

Kaplan has an ADN program but it is not advertised on their website because it doesnt have full accrediation yet. If you call they will tell you about the program but you have to reside in either the san diego or south florida area. No you don't have to be a lpn or have any type of medical background to be accepted into the program. call and check it out or you can even check on here, there are couple of people who attend that post about the program.

Kaplan has one, but you have to complete clinicals on site. Their based out of san diego and south florida.

The clinicals are only offered on saturdays and sundays. And what you learn in the clinicals is really based on what type of patients are in the hospital, one day it could be very busy and you get to experience alot where on some days you might not even get a patient at all. As far as the education provided, because the program is mostly online, its really up to you to put in the effort into your studies if you want to suceed.

I personally dont like it, and would not recommend it to anyone, they are very disorganized and furthermore the first class to take the NCLEX 4 of 8 passed giving them a 50% passing rate. At this point i'm not sure if the program will get accredited.

Funny enough, I have never read any stories on here of an applicant not being accepted into Frontier or Graceland University. These are two schools I had interest in, but now thinking should I be worried at the alarming high acceptance rates?

I'm currently enrolled in the program, and the only hospitals I've seen them use for clinical sites are West Boca Medical Center and Wellington.

Right now I go to Kaplan - which is about the same price at Kaplan, its a fairly new school - so there's a lot of problems there still working out. So far I guess it's OK (i'm not in love- lol) but as far as the teachers at City College - it really depends on who you get. There are teachers who will make sure u get a passing grade, and there are teachers who really want u to learn, and there are teachers who just dont care. It's totally up to you - if u want to really learn the material - then you have to read and learn by yourself, but honestly there were about 2 or 3 classes i took that I passed with an A, without ever opening a book. The passing grade is a B for all nursing classes and yes they do allow you to use calculators - or you can do like some of the other students and say your using your blackberry for a calculator when your really looking up the answers online.

I started at City College along with a group of about maybe 20 - 30 other students in Jan of 2007, some way or another the school found a way to just mysteriously fail students right before the end of the program. I believe only 4 of the students that started with me ended up sitting for the NCLEX. In my opinion this school is just about money. Three people are in my class now that use to go to City College, with the same complaint. One student told me she was released from the program because she got a 79.5 for her final grade when the requirement to pass is 80. THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!!!!!! anyway........I think u should stay away from the school. Once u start and dont complete - it will be very hard to find another school willing to accept your credits.
