online Anatomy and Physiology

Published

Does anyone have any suggestions on a particular school to take Anatomy + Physiology II with lab online? I have 3 kids and life is crazy so I prefer that the tests not be proctored!

Any reputable school will not accept A&P as credit that was taken in an online format, you just cannot get everything out of it you need. Secondly it is my understanding that Both parts of A&P must be taken at the same institution to count for credit when transferring them.

I took AP 1&2 through ccconline. The lab is not 'online' but rather has a full lab that you do at home. Nothing is proctored, so you can do it wherever you are at.

At for Nurse2b9742's concerns: the lab through cccoline is fully transferable to Universities in Colorado, so I should expect they would transfer outside of CO as well. As I said before, the labs are not online so you get the full lab experience, it just happens to be in your kitchen. As for taking both at the same institution, I don't know about that.

It would be prudent to check with the school(s) you plan on applying to, just to make sure every class you plan on transferring in will be accepted, irregardless of format.

Good luck!

This is false.

I go to a very reputable school in NY, and I took my A&P II online during the summer which they both knew and accepted.

To the OP: I took it online through Broome Community College (NY), and it was open book/non proctored.

I also took A&P online, as well as Microbiology, all my credits were accepted. I took it through Rio Salado College in AZ. The exams were proctored though.

A reputable school that has a formal program of medical prereqs is UNE. University of New England - COM - Online Education - COM Online Education

Darton College in Albany, GA has AP 1 and 2 online or hybrid (class online/lab on saturday). You have the option to pick up your specimens or have them delivered to your house.

You can take them from pretty much any school in TN through the Regents Online Degree Program. They are online but when I took A&P 1 the midterm and final were proctored, the other tests weren't. As for a reputaple school not taking them, that is entirely false. All the private colleges and univ. here take RODP classes. I'm taking several for pre-reqs because I have a full time job and family, so it's easier for me not to go to physical classes. Make sure you check with the NS you want to attend though. I DID have to go to campus to take Micro this semester because that is one class they wouldn't take online. Just do your research first! Good luck!

I took anatomy online through EduKan (I already had taken phys.). My school accepted the online anatomy without a problem. EduKan is a kansas based program that links a bunch of Kansas schools together and offers the classes online. I'm in Oklahoma and went through Dodge City Community College for anatomy. I had a bunch of students in the class that were in california, michigan, new jersey, etc. Anyways, they have a ton of science classes they offer online.

I took A&P through cayuga community college which is a SUNY school....and I did it online......however on my transcripts it just shows that I took the class....doesnt say it was online.......so its just another SUNY community college class, and it is looked upon as the same as every other one.

All done online, with lab....with a final proctored exam..

I found it to be harder then a classroom class however, because reading discussion posts takes WAY longer then sitting in a classroom and listening...

I did it online from a real college - not U Phoenix, Capella, or any of that crap. The lab is usless anyway. There's no need for a cat dissection. Trust me. I made A's in both courses in the summer of 2009. Honestly, I took them for something to do. At the time, I had no plans to change careers and get a BSN.

Let me qualfiy my evaluation of this topic by noting that I used to teach the course, high school A.P. A&P, prior to ever taking it. I only had a biology background (taught it for a year). You can take A&P online and learn a lot about it. Just read the book and think about it. Stop running through the chapters. Read it, stop, and think about it.

I agree with Peacekeeper and the Darton A&P. I took both 1 and 2 received my specimens at home and all my exams WERE proctored at our regional library. Let me also say that if you plan to pass these classes you will be doing a ton of studying. No classmates to answer the questions that you might not have thought to ask. It is 100% your responsibility to learn the material. I would say that you will probably learn more than the average student that sits in a class since you have to read EVERYTHING. No open book tests and easy assignments in this course. You will have real dissections and need a good digital camera and lots of patience. I think I took at least 20 pictures per dissection to narrow down 5-10 for submission. Keep in mind that if you are taking these from a truly accredited state university or technical school these classes will transfer just check with the transferring school for credit conversion and hours required. Good Luck!!!
