My best friend just got accepted to Medical School!!! She's going to be a doctor!

I am so happy for her!

My only concern is the $18,000+ price tag per year!!! Yep...per year!!

OUCH!!!

I had no idea that it was so costly to become a doctor! lol I am definitely grateful for my $4200 per year Nursing program!!

Is it really worth it for doctors??? I know that most doctors earn a nice living, but is that not extreme for tuition? Are other programs this costly?

Wowza...:)

I used to wonder if i would prefer being a Doc when i was in school, but after seeing how they have to live, no way. The hassal, the malpractice ins, and the getting woke up at 3, 3:15, 3:45, and so on with calls from different floors and hospitals when on call? Kudos to those who are docs, now way id do it if you GAVE me the tuition $$

A 16 month BSN program?? I assume you are already an RN.

Hi All,

That is amazing the prices you have to pay for an education!!!

I am a student nurse in Australia doing my bachelor of nursing it is a 3 year course(In aus we call them RN div 1 i think it is the same as your RN's). And all i have to pay at the end is around $12,000 and it will come out of my wages when i get a job. other then that it is just the books that work out to be around $500 a year and an admin fee to the university which is about $150 each semester. the government heavly subsidises all university courses in australia.

I am glad i am from down under.

I forgot to mention too the State of Florida has a program that if someone goes to nursing school the state will pay for it, if they stay in Florida when they graduate.

But the cost of higher education is way out of control. My spouse is going to grad school and his fees are outrageous.

My nursing schooling was free! All I had to do is furnish books and my uniform. California has a fee waiver thank goodness for that. Congradulations for your friend. That is cheap and she will not have a problem paying it back! :)

That is awsome!!!!!! I'm originally from Ontario. What school will your friend be going to? Where are you going to school? Best of luck to both of you. :)

she is going to U of Toronto, and I am hoping for Humber!

Wow, Congratulations to your friend. $18,000.00 is definitely cheap for medical school that was the price I paid for a year year of nursing school and that was for 2 years. The first 2 years I went to a community college and took the basics but yeah $18,000.00 is good. I have a friend in Medical school and she pays about $25,000.00 a year that is not including the fees, books, and other things they have to get.

I cant believe you have to pay for the privilage to do nursing !!!

the Uni course was free over here when I did it ! they charged $2,000 a semester for a couple of years, and now due to the nursing shortage it is free again.

I find that hard to believe.
