Good Luck!!! You'll do just fine. Remember to ask as many questions as you need to.

Congratulations!! I am much in the same boat as you, just graduated nursing school in June and this is a 2nd career for me as well. Just relax, be yourself and like lovelylpn said, ask questions. They won't expect you to know much of anything.

Tomorrow is day 6, so I will do my best to pray for you while I pray for myself. Do the same for me will you? Get a good nights sleep and don't say you can do something you have no idea how to do, no question is a stupid one. GOOD LUCK!!:balloons:
Thank you all so much and I definately pray for all of you too:monkeydance:. I'm going to bed now to get a good night's sleep. Big day tommorrow! Thank you all again for your words of encouragement.

Hi, I switched careers too and started nursing in June. It has been a challenging transition! I may feel a bit overwhelming at times...but you can do it...you will be fine...ask all the questions you can and don't do anything unless you are sure..Let us know how it goes!

Hey you!
Last week I had one day on the job and I still feel completely clueless. I, like you, switch career fields so I am so confused, too.
How is your orientation and preceptorship going to be like? That really will help.
I am actually working in the ER (ED) at nights at a Level 2 Trauma Center.
Good luck to you!

Good luck to all of you, just be yourselves, ask lots of questions and listen to the answers. Remember, every nurse has had to feel the nervousness/excitement of their first day.

Good luck to all of you! Its pretty exciting and scary at the same time on your first day. But do ask questions, it makes us nervous- new grads who dont ask questions.
Have a great day!!

Ditto Piki. They really don't expect much of you. I was talking to my preceptor after the first day of my orientation. She told me what a great new nurse I was....that I asked questions and didn't act like I knew it all- and that it impressed her. They see so many new nurses....they know our level.
Ask questions...don't try to act like you know what you're doing if you don't.
