I'm supposed to wear an "Ask me if I washed my hands!" button?!
I have observed that many administrators have good intentions they just tend to be alittle misguided at times. Stepping aside for a moment and taking a look from their point of view, I'm sure they didn't intend on demeaning the staff. I would gather some of the staff together and come up with other, more tastful, ideas to propose to the admin staff. ***sounds like your admin used to work at an auto dealership***

OMG! First day as a nurse!
Ok so my second day was a little better than my first. I think it will take a while before I get the "hang" of the daily routine. Thank you all again.

Remarks made to an LPN student
Absolutely! Remember Maslow. I had an instructor is school who said that if someone is being rude to you picture their head as a triangle (Maslow's) and know that they are stuck in "Safety and Security" and just say to yourself..."Awh, poor thing!";) The simple fact that you are going to school to make something of yourself is a tremendous compliment to your character. Hold your head high and know that you are making a difference.

Salary for starting LPN?
I'm a new grad LPN with no healthcare experiance. The local hospital offered me 14.40 hourly/rotating shifts, a private assisted living facility offered me 12.00 hourly/part time, and the job I took, and will be starting tommorrow, is a skilled care nursing home and they offered 16.00 hourly/full time. All of these are within a 10 mile radius. It really just depends on where you go. Oh, btw I'm in southern Virginia.

help! My cover letter stinks!
I'm going to be graduating the end of next month and the last week I've been working on my resume and cover letters. Well, I need some ideas. My cover letter sounds like a giant "I'm the best person in the world" butt kissing letter. I need ideas on how to tone it down and what are the nurse recuiters looking for in the cover letters. I have no experiance except the clinical time in school. I aim to get a job at the local medical college/Hopsital. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you, Stacey (future LPN)

Any Current MCI Students Out There?
hello all! I will be graduating from the MCI PN program in Richmond next month. I know that the credits I earned will not transfer to traditional institutions because they are accelerated vocational courses. My tuition was 23,850 a year ago. I know that almost every term the tuition goes up. Hind sight is 20/20. I should have just gone to VCU and took an extra year to get my RN BSN. Now after I graduate and pass NCLEX. It will take 2 to 3 more years to get the BSN. oh well. I chose MCI because a friend of mine graduated from there a couple years before I enrolled. Make sure you check out what you are getting too. Is the RN program a certificate, diploma, Associate Degree. If it's anything less than an Associates degree it may not be worth the tuition. Me? I'm just getting a diploma....sucks....but whacha gonna do? )

Silly Question :-P
I'm a student and have been told by many that you will eventually get used to odors and they won't bother you "as much" anymore.

Abandoning babies at Hospitals LEGAL?!?!

Abandoning babies at Hospitals LEGAL?!?!
"forty-five states now have some type of safe haven legislation. (the following states do not have safe haven legislation: ak, hi (vetoed 7/2/03), ma, ne and vt.) most of the laws designate hospitals, emergency medical services, fire stations and police stations as safe locations. one exception is new york, which stipulates that the baby may be left with a suitable person or may be left in a suitable location so long as an appropriate person is promptly notified. immunity is granted generally to employees who are required to accept and care for relinquished infants. about half of the states will not prosecute parents who relinquish unharmed infants. the remainder allows an affirmative defense to prosecution. state laws vary on the age of infants who may be relinquished. the ages range from 72 hours old or younger up to 5 days old or younger. the most common ages found in the statues are 72 hours and 30 days." http://www.ncsl.org/programs/cyf/ailaws.htm personally i think this is good. desparation(sp?) can make one do unthinkable things. it's much better that there be an out for these individuals than the alternative. --mercyteapot i love your avatar! :heartbeat vincent is so attractive in ci! mmm-mmm :blushkiss

life after LPN at MCI
I just enrolled in the LPN program at MCI and was curious as to what I can do to obtain my RN afterwards. I'm starting to doubt that going to MCI is a good idea because I've heard from a few people that a lot of my credits from MCI will be no good in an RN program. Any suggestions???
