Olivet Nazarene FNP

Published

Hi! I'm looking at FNP programs. What have you heard about Olivet Nazarene University? I've heard great things so far. The only thing I'm a little worried about is the curriculum; it looks like there aren't as many core FNP classes as there are in other programs. Has anyone gone through their FNP program? Have any insight? Thanks!

I've spoken to an admission counselor and she said the first year is all online. The second year requires about 15 hours of clinicals a week which is not much. So I intend on keeping my fulltime job through the program. I have a full time job now and I'm in an accelerated BSN program so I'm sure it will be fine.

I will be starting on Feb 22, 2016. Anybody starting along with me?

Oh, and they provide a 20% tuition discount if you are a member of ANA-Illinois or ENA-Indiana. That's a total of 26k for the tuition. That will save me money for books and review materials.

Hi , I also start in February 2016

@onyx26, are you in the MSN-FNP or the FNP-C program? I am FNP-C. I will be starting with the Patho class.

I am in the MSN-FNP program

Hi cherub_myrr;

I have also finished my bsn overseas. Did you have any issues with that?

thank you

Not really. I did have a credential evaluation completed already, though. You need to go through a NACES member.

I am also starting the feb 2016 program! We should help each other!

Hello. I'm in the process of applying to this program. Please share your journey!

I have been admitted, just waiting to hear if I am starting in February or May.

Please, whatever you do DO NOT apply for this program. I have been attending Olivet for the past 2 years. What I initially signed up for was a program that was supposed to be 1 year online and 1 year on campus. Well, the first day we came to class we were told that it was our last as the program was changed to all online. The learning opportunities there are next to none. For our patho midterm, the instructions were "read ch.1 to ch. 28 and take a test". No study guides, no power points. You are completely on your own. Finding preceptors is very difficult. They do not help you whatsoever. You literally call around and beg people to take you in. When I couldn't find my primary care preceptor I was told to "withdraw until I find one". All this school cares about is your money. You get no education there. Save your time and money and enroll in Loyola or Lewis university.
