Hi! I'm looking at FNP programs. What have you heard about Olivet Nazarene University? I've heard great things so far. The only thing I'm a little worried about is the curriculum; it looks like there aren't as many core FNP classes as there are in other programs. Has anyone gone through their FNP program? Have any insight? Thanks!
I was supposed to be done in May but now it will be October.
at least it's just a few more months! I started aug 2016. I am just starting the pharm course. It was rough not being able to use notes or references and kinda sucked with it being procotored. But I understand why they did it. Please tell me it gets easier haha are you courses proctored too?
Agreed! I'm almost half way through the program now and it's too late to transfer out. This program is terrible! Disorganized, zero communication, and absolutely no actual teaching. They embed random YouTube videos from other schools and professors into the course page and use that as "lectures". Seriously don't make my mistake and go here for cheap cost or easy entrance. Go to a reputable school!
Me being a former student in their ABSN program and currently looking into FNP program, take my advice and please DO NOT attend here. Go to Chamberlain. Chamberlain is more accommodating and understanding of working students.
Here at Olivet Nazarene University, there goal is to only create problems for their students who they are treat as sh***t. There goal is to make most money using the student body literally ripping them apart. Their current director of Nursing (Greer) doesn't give a hoot about students. ONU program is very disorganized and if you run into problems, they will blame you for everything. You will live in tears throughout their program. Take my advise and go anywhere else than come here.
I completely agree with you Clay. Their Professors do no work and blame students for everything. Go to a school that will actually help you and the Professors will actually guide you with learning. Here at ONU they throw stuff at you and expect you to know everything in few days. There goal is primarily to take your money and make you live in tears. If you ask for help from their Professors, they will turn their back. If you complaint, they will destroy you and try to kick you out.

Realistically what is a better program for the same length? The only way people passed before was using their books and internet on tests but now being proctored forget about it. Pass rate rapidly declining. Proctoring isn't bad but it is when you take 25+ chapter tests every 2 weeks with no prep help from the school. Literally.lnow everything.
Couldn't agree with you more. I wish more people would stand up and say something!
Oh believe me I know we have in our cohort. Even taken our concerns all the way to the dean of the entire school. No change was the result. Unfortunately as long as they continue to have new unsuspecting students writing checks to them they don't see any reason to change what they are doing.
ClayH and FNA2181. I agree with you. Future students should simply stop applying for this program. This program is very disorganized and complete mess. They use the marketing gimmick (shorter program) to sell it to new students but most students don't graduate on time and it ends up costing more. Students don't take the time to read reviews online and just simply apply for the program thinking they are too smart and then eventually wind up getting screwed. We should all stand up, but unfortunately, if you complaint, they will find away to get rid of you. Future students, please take the time to read the comments here before applying. Go to another school. This program is a living hell.

Ericnava,
Where are you at in the program? I am in health assessment now. I spoke with Dr Bruely the MSN director after sending my
Complaints and concerns about the lack of preparation and education for exams in patho and pharm. she was actually very nice and said they are actively working to revise study guides in the program to make them more useful as well and talking about lengthening the course from 6 weeks. Of course this is all just talk at this point... I just hope I can pass at this point.

I attended their program at Oakbrook campus until they threw me out of the program due to discrimination. I will not apply or attend this school if you are a black student. Many Professors are very discriminatory and show racism when grading your exams and papers. All my black classmates including some of white students will admit to the existence of racism among professors. Do anything possible to avoid this school if your Latino, Hispanic, or Asian. Do not waste your money
