Olivet Nazarene FNP

Published

Hi! I'm looking at FNP programs. What have you heard about Olivet Nazarene University? I've heard great things so far. The only thing I'm a little worried about is the curriculum; it looks like there aren't as many core FNP classes as there are in other programs. Has anyone gone through their FNP program? Have any insight? Thanks!

Hi All,

I'm supposed to start in feb 2018, I just read some HATEFUL reviews on other sites, getting a little nervous... can anyone testify to this problem... as far as the finding preceptor thing that's pretty much universal.

What you read is accurate. I am in the final year of their FNP and I regret going to ONU everyday. Worst program I have ever experienced. Everything from top to bottom is awful. They don't communicate anything. Change rules and requirements without warning. And don't teach at all. Literally they embed YouTube videos from other schools into their courses and use this as lectures even though have of it isn't even pertinent to what we're doing. Finding your own preceptor is the

least of your concerns when going to ONU. Trust me and go to Chamberlain or another more reputable school.

I am been seeing bad reviews about the ABSN and FNP program across the web? Is the ABSN program that bad? One of you who recently graduated or is in the program tell me how many people are kicked out and how many graduate within time (I need to know the most recent info.?).

Hello Clay,

I wanted to know how are you doing with the 2nd year of the FNP program? I am so worried about all the negative feedbacks especially for the 3ps. I just got accepted for the post-masters fnp and will be starting my advanced patho in 3 weeks... and now doubting if I should go ahead or not. I hope the study guide has been revised. Do you have any tips in passing the proctored exams?

Have you taken the 3Ps at Olivet? I am worried as well...like you my expected cohort date is 2/2018.

Hello,

I am excited to start this program in February. I live 20 minutes from campus, out of curiosity how many of you live within driving distance to the campus? I have been told that since I am local I can set up tutoring sessions and meet with professors to discuss any issues. It seems like a lot of the complaints on this blog are regarding communication issues.

Thanks!

I start that date too!

Anyone from the 2/2018 cohort willing to exchange information?

RNPnay, nothing has changed in this program. Take my advise and go somewhere else otherwise you will wind up suffering like all of us. Do not fall for their attractive workplace discount they give you to sign up because they will all that money offered to you as discount by failing you multiple times and then making you repeat their classes. Professors here do not help and never answer your questions while make run around in loops. Please avoid all this trouble and go somewhere. Many of us are extremely suffering in this program and there is no one for help. Even if you have to wait a semester, go somewhere else

Ettarr90, they promise tutoring sessions, but never usually offer them on a consistent basis. They promise everything to get enrolled in their FNP program but once you are in is when the real problems begin. There is no one to help. Many of us are struggling in this program because there is nobody to help us. These are not simply communication issues. As a group, we have wrote letters to the president, the director, and several others asking for help but they complete ignore you. Do not get fooled. As a student, I can attest that every mentioned in other comments are very true

I'm passing patho thankfully, but does anyone have suggestions on pharmacology and health assessment exams? Were the classes more difficult/strenuous than patho? I can't wait to finally move on after these next two courses!

ClayH, I am also in Phoenix Arizona by the way! Any tips or insight into advanced pharmacology and health assessment? Does health assessment have proctored exams as well?

Are you in the new program where you do two classes at a time over 7 weeks?
