Oldest pregnant patient you have seen?

What is the oldest and youngest new mother you have seen? How old do you feel is too old to have children? Just curious after reading about the woman who just delivered at 60 years of age.

The oldest mom I personally took care of was 53. She had one other child, an 18 yr old.

The youngest was fifteen, but it was her second child.

Youngest: 12 (barely)....and her mother saw nothing wrong with her being pregnant.

Oldest that I have personally seen: 46

I delivered a 53 year olds 23rd baby. Was just waiting for the massive PPH I was sure she would have, but it didn't happen.

Did you say 23rd baby???? :bugeyes: Did she ever get OUT of the bed besides to eat, use the restroom and go to the hospital? LOL. Not that I am judging, but that's a lot of kids. God bless those with that much courage because 3 was all I could handle....:smilecoffeecup:

Yes, 23rd baby. The older kids used to look after the younger ones. Her religion did not allow birth control. It also did not allow television, cinema, all books except the bible. They lived on an island off the coast of Scotland which is quite isolated so not much to do.....

Youngest.........10. Hugging her little stuffed animal.

That's really sad, BabyNurselsa, about the 10 year old! Really sad.

The oldest I've cared for: 55

Oldest: 48, with donor eggs, having her first babies...twins.

Youngest: 12, poor thing had been raped by her stepdad.

The oldest we have had was 51, and ironically we had 2 patients that same week that were 35 getting their hysterectomies. the youngest is 11, and it is crazy to see how proud these babies partents are when they have babies. I had one little girl she was 22, but she was having her 5th baby, it was her 8th pregnancy, and all her mother could talk about was how proud she was because she too, gave birth to number 5 at 22, years of age.
