I start NS in August, super excited and scared, want to know who all is so I can keep track when fall comes and we can share with each other
I start NS on Aug. 25th. We will have orientation for three days 8-4. I am super excited and nervous. I have my scrub tops (two different styles, I like them) and I have my lab coat-crisp and white. I still need to buy my scrub pants. I had to buy cheap shoes from payless, they are comfortable and I will buy a more durable pair when I can afford it. Tuesday I will buy my $800 box of books!! I have a stethoscope, and I anticipate we will receive a list of extras that we need for clinical-more money!! All this week I will be putting together my binders, folders, and planner, preparing for the first day. I will also begin reading as soon as I get my books!!:heartbeat:nurse::heartbeat
I just dropped off all my required documentation and paperwork today, pick up our lab packets and syllabus and nursing student handbook from kinkos tomorrow. It's 1 week left I am feeling so many different things. Our first day is orientation, I can't wait to hear about everyones day up in our new sections!!!
Tomorrow I will finally be able to get my books, yipee- but over $800-yikes!! I have so much to print out, the syllabi, the documentation needing signatures... Also during orientation we will be conducting our drug tests. I have no worries there. I think we will also be fingerprinted too. Oh how I wish I could afford all kinds of neat binders and nice rolling pack-pack. I must stay organized, must stay focused... but I am so excited!!!!:heartbeat:nurse::heartbeat
My orientation is tomorrow and classes start on the 31st! I'm very excited to start, but I must say, the "start up" costs have been a little daunting to say the least! Immunizations, stethoscopes, scrubs, shoes, textbooks, ect. ect. ect! Can't wait to get started!!
I feel you there, it wouldn't be as bad if I didn't have to wait a month to get student loans.
I had my orientation Friday and it was pretty good. It lasted all day from 8:30 - 3 and they supplied lunc (they had better with as much as I was paying) I got my book $1100 ahhhhh!!!! I just stood there at the cash registar and stared with my mouth open for a min. Oh, I was so excited that day I got up at 6 got ready and I was there super early and got an awsome parking spot right in front, hehe! Oh, I lucked out and I only have class 4 days a week instead of 5 I get Mon. off, so that gives me a three day weekend every week YES!! (to study of course ) when they gave us our schedule they already put assignments on it for the first day of class:banghead: anyway good luck to everyone starting let me know how ya'll are doing.

I think it's great your going for it no matter your age. My mom is a Cert. medical assistant and she was telling me that she was thinking about doing nursing and I got so excited, I wish she lived close and we could go together but I was telling her how there are plenty of woman her age going because she felt she was to old. (she turns 46 in Sept.)
