all the "great" procedures were gonna get to do and also the ones we dont get to do. I must say I wont mind catheters but the tubes in the nose I might lose it. :barf01:
Nurses can:
1. Start IV's
2. do catheters
3. feeding tubes
3. enemas (yay)
4. what else
Nurses dont:
1.) do chest tubes or intubate ?
What do you guys think? and what do you dread/look forward to?????

Is childbirth really the grossest thing you can think of? Why?

I am doing my OB rotation now and i love it. It is different. And dont for one second think that we will know everything becuase we are women. i am a woman, gave birth to 2 children and i am still like huh??? Did I go through that??? Its a wonderful thing.

Personally, I cannot wait to do OB! Being a mommy of four I know what it involves and I can't wait to be a part of that experience! My view may be somewhat partial since someday I want to become a CNM.
Yea I think childbirth will be awesome. I only hope that I'll have the opportunity to work with it.
Catheters dont sound good though, and anything dealing with mucus. I had an old lady when I was a CNA -I dont remember what she had- but her bed rails and all over was always covered with bloody mucus. YUCK
RNs dont do chest tubes or intubate though do they??
Yea the morbidly obese. (God help them) but some have huge overlaps of skin that gets all infected under neath...............

I am currently doing my clinical rotation at a nursing home. I would have to say the grossest (for me) sputum.
Looking forward to Peds and OB rotation!

I have nightmares about grown-ups and poo. :imbar Really.
Which is why the thought of sick kids doesn't bother me. Roll on peds! I know, I know; we'll all be patients eventually, and I hope the RNs, LPNs, and CNAs who end up taking care of me in my old age and final hours (God willing I live that long!) will take GOOD care of me - but I just can't deal with grown-up poo. I can only hope that God's sense of humor isn't so twisted that I end up with something awful like a colostomy, and am forced to deal with my OWN poo.
Guess we should all know our limits, though. Could save us a HEAP of trouble. :imbar
(BTW, that's POOH like the BEAR....)
