OHSU BSN 2016 Applicants

Published

Hey everyone! I am applying for OHSU BSN monmouth program this coming Fall for the 2016 school year! I would love to get a thread started :) It was so helpful last year! I will also be applying for Chemeketa this year.

Hope to hear from you all soon!

Specializes in CVIMCU/CVICU.

Jmae14, I don't know when they need to decide :( I got placed on the alternate list. Congrats to everyone that got accepted this year :)

The acceptance email didn't give a date. Only stated the information packet would arrive later.

This might be a stupid question, but did anyone bring a resume with them to their interview? I know it's not a job interview, but I want to be prepared.

I didn't bring a resume. During our interview each individual took turns speaking to one interviewer while each of them asked a different question, usually pertaining to a situation and how you would handle it. If you would feel better bringing a resume then do it. Get a little folder to put it in, but I don't think you'll need it. I did bring a small notepad to jot down any ideas I had and I think that helped. Good luck!!!

Thank you! Which campus did you interview at?

I did not see anyone bring a resume, and I interviewed at the Portland campus.

I actually took resumes with me to my interview for the ABSN (Ashland campus) just in case and was told they wouldn't look at them, anyway. No need for them.

Hello all, I'm coming out of lurk mode to wish you very good luck with your applications and interview results. I have a question, too; have or will any of you sent a thank you note to the panel who conducted your interview?

I'm torn about whether or not to bother--on one hand, it can't hurt to be polite and remind the SON of my existence, but on the other hand, it seems excessive. I only have first names of the interviewers, and as skewed as it is getting into nursing school at this point, I'm actually the consumer/client/what have you, although I suspect that doesn't matter where west coast schools are concerned.

I found out yesterday I was accepted for the Klamath Falls campus!!! I am still in shock!!! ANd to the person who asked Klamath Falls people have until June 15th to decide.

Specializes in Emergency Room, CEN, TCRN.

Congratulations to those who've received acceptance letters so far. It's good motivation for us yet to interview!

Hey all!

I'm SO anxious waiting to hear back after the Portland campus 3-year program interviews last week...anybody have any reasonable estimate when we might hear back? I know they said for sure within 3-4 weeks, but it seems in previous years that we could hear back as early as today (Thursday) or tomorrow? Was there anyone else here who was part of the Friday 6/8 Portland afternoon interviews? I'm the 6'1" dude who was in black rolled up sleeves and dark red tie:) Excited to possibly start a program with you guys, all the other applicants I met that day were so nice & fun.

Anyway, congrats to those who have already been accepted, and good luck to the rest of you who are waiting to hear too!!

Also @Smill204-- I don't think that's a dumb question, but I don't think it would be a good idea, given the format of the interviews. The interviews were 3 interviewers and 5 applicants, all at once, alternating with various questions down the line. It would've been really awkward to hand over a resume at any point during the process when no one else was and when it wasn't asked for...it would've felt like you were disregarding their instructions. Good question though!
