OHSU ABSN 2018-2019

Published

Hey all!

Now that the application deadline has passed, I feel comfortable finally starting a post. Just curious to hear who else applied to this program. It's fascinating to me to hear about people's different experiences, stats, expectations, etc. I'm also wondering what other programs people might've applied to? I got my submission in for the Portland ABSN to FNP/DNP program as well.

Best of luck to everyone! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and perspectives.

I was referring to all the letters I uploaded to CAS for all my programs.

It is, and congratulations on Duquesne! It's just disheartening, I'm a resident, and I think they should consider the "whole" not just GPA strictly for the ABSN program, or else why even interview? My pre-reqs were done under Dr. Bob McMullen in Colorado- I TA'd in an "Oregon" A&P class and Microbiology- and these were like HS classes compared to the ones I took at Pikes Peak and UCCS compared to the pre-reqs here! That being said, all anatomy and biology sciences are hard, but still. I'm 53, this is all I've wanted to do, and I think 3rd year applying, SOU graduate, all pre-reqs done, loads of medical experience, BS complete and SUMMA- should be considered. But no. Checking out Roseman now, we'll see. Anyone have any feedback on these hybrid programs?

I'm assuming you applied to the Ashland ABSN and not the Portland ABSN?

The letter was super generic and said you were accepted and would receive something more formal soon. I bet for some people it's a quick decision while others might be making a decision that forces a family move. Hard to say. I'll let you know when the formal letter comes though.

Received my decision. Unfortunately, I didn't get in. I'm moderately likely on the wait list so you never know! Happy I got this far though and good luck to all that are accepted. You guys rock! :)

Same here, moderately likely on the wait list. I'm not overly optimistic and am going to proceed as if I didn't get in so I can continue making plans, but I guess this is better than an outright rejection. Congratulations to everyone who gets in and be sure to let us know if you ultimately decide to take a spot at a different school :cheeky:

Just accepted into the Fall cohort! So glad we are finally getting decisions. Thanks everyone for sharing information. This thread has been a blessing throughout this process.

I got waitlisted as moderately likely too. From my research on previous years on the forums, seems like most "highly likely" all get in but the moderately likely doesn't í ½í¸ looks like I'll start looking into other programs and go on with life! Congrats to everyone who got in!

Got my decision today and I got accepted into the summer cohort! Everyone that is on the wait-list don't give up hope!! You all seem wonderful and could be great nurses--things will fall into place eventually. Just need to take a different path than expected. You guys got this!

Long time lurker, first time poster. Got my rejection yesterday and it literally broke my heart. I wish I had never been granted an interview so that I wouldn't have learned enough about the program to fall in love with it. I was accepted at a university in Virginia but I sure as hell don't want to leave my home and family in Oregon. I really wish there were more ABSN programs in Oregon because let's face it, nursing isn't rocket science. You should be intelligent and hard-working but I honestly think most everyone at my interview, including myself, was way overqualified. Congrats to everyone who got in. Linfield you gotta save me from moving 2700 miles away

I am so sorry! I am in the same boat. I'm in an accelerated program in Boston but I'd rather stay in Oregon. My other option is PCC if I get in this year (got in last year) which would take longer but is so affordable! It was hard to read that email yesterday, but it speaks volumes about is that we made it as far as the interview. I'm curious if I would have been accepted in Ashland if I had applied there instead. Oh well!

I got my acceptance letter to Linfield today! If you applied, check your mail!!
