Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
Grades in 5-week courses:For students in 5-week courses, official grades for both session 1 and session 2 (for example for winter 1 and winter 2) are not available until approximately one week after the close of session 2. At that time you may access your grades online.
This weekend marks 3 weeks since the close of the previous session. I wonder if the word "week" used above is a mistake and Ohio meant to use "month" instead. That would at least explain why the grades for last session are still not posted.
Yes...The official grades for the Fall term will not be up until the 10 week classes are completed. They will be done next week Sat/Sun (11/12 or 11/13).
I just finished my intervention assignment for module 2. This class is going to be the death of me. I will be going out of town this Friday, and Module 3 assignment/discussions ....Plus I have 2 assignments due to bus. comp...
But...I will survive
I just figured out what my problem is w/Intervention. Unlike the other nursing classes, this class instructions are TOO WORDY. Not to the point at all. Have to decipher too much what is being asked. I hate anything that too wordy, and just reading all this stuff just for the DIRECTIONS is overwhelming...
I agree! I had to print out the instructions for the assignment and I'm sure I will read them at least a dozen times! I just posted the first discussion board post...whoohoo! I'm staying ahead this week. I have spent far too much time on those darn things and decided "tonite I will post!" Good luck this week everyone!
Since the Health related Jr. Comp class is already full for winter registration....GRRR...any thoughts on who to take for 325J/Business Communication? Went over the syllabus for (moderator edit of name) and it looks a bit Scary! Couldn't find a full one for Penrod, but the mini doesn't look too bad.
Guys remove the instructors name in your post. Mods on board say its against form rules. Bus comp is a great class. You can take hrs to complete a quiz. Not timed. The topics are interesting and relevant. My TA grades fair and gives insightful suggestions. I love that class. And no I'm not the writer type.
