Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
Yep - I have that list and am interested in a few, but they wont be in online completion - they will be with the regular classes - just cant find the link - LOL
10 week classes link is on the RN to BSN Knowledge Center page. Pick 10 week class Nursing option, class listing. Pick the campus you are interested in, pick the department - look and see if the class is listed
Hello everyone, I'm new to this thread but I have been following it for a few months now. I applied back in August just days shy of the fall deadline so now I'm waiting to be accepted for winter. This process is so frustrating. I've already applied to two other programs and have been accepted and received all of my paperwork in half the time that I have been waiting to hear from O.U. I've never experienced this with a college before.
I have a few questions for you experienced OU'ers out there. Can another nursing class be taken concurrently with NRSE 300? Or is it mandatory to take 300 on its own. I noticed in some of the courses it indicates that the pre-req is 300 or concurrent. Just curious if I can start doubling up right away or if I have to wait until 300 is completed. My second question is how do I test out of the JR comp requirement if I they won't take the classes I've previously taken? I already have a B.S in Biology and have written several "Junior" level papers in my college career. To have to take this class seems very redundant for me. Is this something my advisor will be able to assist me with? Finally, how big of a stickler are they on credit hours for pre-reqs? I have already taken a nutrition class but it was only 3 credit hours and they show a requirement of 4. Has anyone had to retake this to make up for the missing credit? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kelly

Hi Kelly
300 is kind of a "busy-work" class and it has changed considerably since I took it in June. I am sure it is "doable" with another class... maybe a non-nursing class? OU is currently quarter-based, so that 3 credit hour class from a semester based school more than covers the requirements - it actually counts as 4.5 credit hours when transitioned to quarter based credits - as will all your other classes. You should really talk with one of the advisors about what will and will not count toward the Jr Eng requirement, it may be that your have satisfied the university requirements. OU is getting ready to change to semesters in the fall, which will combine some of the classes and actually get you through the program sooner...Good luck to you.
the acceptance process is $$@# - I am sure you have read of other's experiences here - but I love the program, so it is worth the BS in my opinion
There are 10 modules. 9 quizzes (from assigned readings). Then weekly you have a journal entry about various topics. Some weeks you only have the journal entry, other weeks you'll have it with another assignment (responsive reading, case study, memo, professional letter). Then to wrap up the course for week 10, you have write a paper about what you've learned in the class. I thought I wasn't going to like it very much, but it's actually one of my favorite classes. The instructor also gives you a TON of examples on how she wants your paper formatted, so if you follow her instructions and your paper is about the assigned topic, you'll do fine.

Available options for Tier I Jr Comp are: ART 300J; B A 325J, 470J; CLWR 385J; ECON 310J; ENG 305j, 306J, 307J, 308J, 309J, 384J; ET 385J, FILM 344J; CONS 345J; HIST 301J, 396J; HLTH 370J; IART 360J; ETM 370J; JOUR 441J; M L 321J, M L 370J; PBIO 418J; POLS 305J; PCRM 325J; REC 370J; S W 370J. Can't find the nursing associated one - it is still reading not available. Just pick the department and then look and see if the option you want is listed. Some of these look to be major specific, so not sure if you can register for them?
