Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
I found this thread over the weekend and i must say i love it.Wish i would have found it sooner.I totally plan on applying, certainly not looking forward to the application process and all that waiting. Its nice to see you guys going from beginning through. My only question how is it with a mandatory (B) 80% to pass classes?

I don't think the mandatory B- is difficult to obtain. Just make sure to follow the rubic and you'll be fine. Now you will have some TAs that grade harder than others, so just make sure to take note of exactly what they are looking for.
Hello there,
I have been following this thread for a couple months now as well, and I am gaining a lot of insight from the various discussions posted. I am currently in the NRSE 300 class and I hope I am going to be able once the "actual" nursing classes start.
I am wondering if anybody is taking more than two classes at a time-as in two nursing classes plus support classes)?
Looked at my DARS report. Available options for Tier I Jr Comp are: ART 300J; B A 325J, 470J; CLWR 385J; ECON 310J; ENG 305j, 306J, 307J, 308J, 309J, 384J; ET 385J, FILM 344J; CONS 345J; HIST 301J, 396J; HLTH 370J; IART 360J; ETM 370J; JOUR 441J; M L 321J, M L 370J; PBIO 418J; POLS 305J; PCRM 325J; REC 370J; S W 370J. Can't find the nursing associated one - it is still reading not available. Just pick the department and then look and see if the option you want is listed. Some of these look to be major specific, so not sure if you can register for them?
rninme, from what I understand HLTH 370j is the 5-week Jr level composition class related to healthcare/nursing. That is offered online for the winter quarter.

I personally would never take 3 online classes, but you are on a totally different level. So for you it's probably way doable. Also, the instructor gives you your syllabus and assignments about a week before class starts, so you can take that week to do all the quizzes, etc. They try to advice you to not do the assignments ahead of time, but I see no reason why you can't do the assignments, then correct them if necessary before submitting.
But like everything else, my experience is based upon my TA. I have a really good one who doesn't nit pick every detail and actually "READS" the papers and gives thoughtful feedback. The only drawback to this is you might be waiting a week to get your grade on an assignment.
