Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program

Updated:   Published

Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.

I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.

As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.

As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.

Finished with my discussions toooo :) whooo hooo

Now I can prepare for week two, and then on Monday my STATS and ENG start ..... so glad I tested out of Appraisal:)

Are you in Health Interventions? 'Cause that's how I feel and can't imagine another 4 weeks of this - 2 discussion postings with citations and 4 responses, also each with citations each and every week! The subject matter is so uninteresting that I'm seriously considering a poke in the eye with sharp stick as a bit of relief from the readings . . .

HEEEEEEEE....I love this, and I wholeheartedly agree......

I couldn't agree more about 325. Talk about dull. Those DB questions are simply mini essays and an exercise in futility. I MADE myself finish them today so I could have some breathing room. Can you believe the number required? The info becomes redundant and quite frankly I can't remember which theory does what without some serious information retrieval. Stab me in the eye with a fork!

Anastaro, I am ashamed to admit it but OU accepted a D grade from my transcripts and I couldn't be happier. Good luck!

I really do not want to take the graded quiz for this week. If the first two quizes are any indication of what is to come it won't be pretty (guess I need to get my replies done tonight so I can review). I find all of the theories to be repetitive and boring! Hope things get more interesting in the next few weeks.

Is this also for 325? I think the quizzes for my section can be retaken . . .

How did you guess?? LOL I thought management and strategic planning were boring. I really needed to take this class w/assessment. And citations for responses...WHY!!!?? When you are in classes, you don't say "As stated in blah blah blah..." when answering a classmates questions. I'm glad not too many classes require this.

Thanks, I did not realize I could retake the quizzes. I know they are not counted in the final grade but it still bothers me to see it whenever I log in to Epic.

Did you get the email. In order to get full credit for the participation points, you have to score 100%. So make sure to do that on all of the quizzes before the class ends. The email stated you can take the quizzes whenever, so I'll probably try to complete all of them this weekend. One less think to worry about, and easy points.
