Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program

Updated:   Published

Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.

I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.

As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.

As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.

So, I have been stalking this thread for a while. I started Ohio's online program in June. I'm currently taking NRSE 325 and just tested out of NRSE 310...that test was almost as stressful as the NCLEX, but I didn't have to wait 8 days for these results. I have a vacation planned in a few weeks, so I had to pass the test. I'm happy with my B+, but if they curve it, even better!!!

I tested out of 310 with an 87%, would have been happier with an A, but will take the 87%! Now, if they curve it, I'll get my A!

I am soooooooooooo hoping they curve. Congratulations to everyone who passed! It's a tremendous weight off my shoulders. boyfactory, what section are you in 325? I'm in 008. I'm having some major mental blocks getting rolling. That test prep for 310 kinda drained my battery. Welcome to this thread!

Welcome to all new posters!! Great to have you here...and congrats to all that tested out of 310 :yeah:. Is anyone else still waiting for an official grade for 445? It still hasn't posted to my grades? And - registration for winter session starts on October 25th. I'll be taking Ethics (335) and Gerontology (410). Still trying to decide what to do about spring. I have to either retake community which I took in my diploma program or take Jr comp to meet my residency requirements. I guess if they finally offer the writing for nurses class, I'll submit the syllabus and course outline for my community class ... decisions, decisions.

Yes..I'm still waiting for my grade for strategic planning to post also. Will take Nutrition and Gerontology next. Then after that, NURSING EXCELLENCE!!!

I currently in the business communication class. It's not bad. But I would definitely preferred to take a 5wk vs 10wk writing class. Why do you have to retake community? Not enough credit hours?

Neither of my grades have posted from the first part of the fall session yet. I see some of you have grades from NRSE 414, should I be worried? I thought waiting 10 days last term was bad on one class. This is worse.

I am in section 102 for NRSE 325. I just can't seem to get motivated after cramming for to test out of NRSE 310 though. I better though because I work all weekend and am going on a Boy Scout camping trip tomorrow.

Where do you see the WINTER classes???

just tested out of 310!!! i am soooo relieved. i already did my discussion post because i just knew i was gonna fail it. i am sooo happy i could cry! congrats to everyone else who tested out too. and good luck to all who are taking it today or tomorrow.

I have several question that I hope someone can answer for me.* I already have a bachelors of science in healthcare administration as well as an RN license. It appears that I have all the general education requirements as well. If so, will I only need the 50 Credits to complete the core nursing classes? Can you substitute chemistry for a physics course? If not, will a D be accepted? And are there any clinical rotations that I would need to set up to complete these core nursing class requirements?
