Ohio State University(OSU) Traditional-entry MSN Fall 2020

Updated:   Published

Hello All,

I am looking to connect with others who are applying to OSU's Traditional-Entry MSN program for Fall 2020 admission. Or, if anyone out there is currently in the program or recently graduated, I would love to hear your input on the school!

I am planning to apply to the PMHNP and have a BS in Biology and am completing an ADN in nursing currently. I am also a mental health technician on an inpatient psychiatric unit.

Advice, information, and encouragement for all current applicants is what I am hoping this thread is able to provide. Please introduce yourself and add anything you like relevant to the OSU MSN traditional-entry programs.

Good luck during this cycle everyone!

I applied to PMHNP and was denied. I have a 3.6

Denied with a 3.6 that’s shocking. Do you have experience in psych ?

Yes I have worked inpatient psych for two years as a therapeutic assistant. I have a biology degree and just now finishing my ADN, would have been licensed by start of classes which was all that was required. May apply next year, but seeing there are multiple other options like UAB and Frontier.

Oh wow. I had a co-worker apply to UAB and said it was great. I'm gonna look into it.

Got accepted into the PNP BSN to DNP program!!!

Specializes in Emergency Medicine.

I got my acceptance email today, for FNP.

Put on waitlist for FNP GPA 3.6

Specializes in Psychiatry.

I got my acceptance email this past Sunday 2/16. I applied to the BSN-DNP track PMHNP

Accepted to the part time FNP online program. Originally applied for full time but they could only offer part time.

GPA does not matter as much as everyone is talking about. Of course, they consider it but I believe I got into my program more so because of my experience. I think being a nurse for 3 years is what got me into my program.

They may not look exclusively at GPA, but they also aren’t going solely on experience as I have 6+ years and was waitlisted.

I’ll be 3 years in about a month. Work at top 2 busiest primary care clinic in nationwide children network. We literally see 150-180 patients a day ... still got denied.
