Hello All,
I am looking to connect with others who are applying to OSU's Traditional-Entry MSN program for Fall 2020 admission. Or, if anyone out there is currently in the program or recently graduated, I would love to hear your input on the school!
I am planning to apply to the PMHNP and have a BS in Biology and am completing an ADN in nursing currently. I am also a mental health technician on an inpatient psychiatric unit.
Advice, information, and encouragement for all current applicants is what I am hoping this thread is able to provide. Please introduce yourself and add anything you like relevant to the OSU MSN traditional-entry programs.
Good luck during this cycle everyone!

Hi! I'm applying to OSU's traditional entry online FNP program, Fall 2020 term. I just graduated with my ADN and passed my NCLEX last month. My BS is in economics. Glad to see another applicant and best of luck to you!

Hi,
Just applied to the online FNP program. May I say the most difficult part was the online interview. I wish they did in-person interviews! My background is in nursing (ADN and BSN) with one year of hospital experience.
I like that OSU provides preceptors instead of us finding our own.
Good luck to everyone.

They provide preceptors, but the site can be up to 2-hour drive from Columbus, and 1 of the semesters they will place you anywhere in the state of Ohio, a friend lives in Columbus, but gets a hotel in Clevland a few times a week.
Yikes, I hope that's not the case... I live in Dayton, so Cincinnati or Columbus would be the farthest I probably could do
It comes as a surprise to everyone, the clinical portion, the last 3 semesters is 3 days a week and 1 day of classes, you have a figure in the travel times and getting hotels often complicates things. We are talking about the onsite FNP? the online distance program you have to arrange your own preceptor's. One semester your clinical can be anywhere in the state, the other semester's 1.5-2 hour drive radius from Columbus.
I did not apply to the onsite FNP. However, I did read a part in the OSU NP handbook which states that in-state students are asked what locations they prefer. I am in-state. It was hard to find that information but from what I gathered, if you're in-state, they find preceptors for you?
Oh yes you are correct, I thought you were out of state, it would be within a 2-hour drive of your home address, and 1 semester you would be expected to go anywhere in the state.
Finally completed the interview on October 30th. Now for the waiting game! I feel like waiting will be harder than getting all of those materials together. Any other PMHNP applicants out there? Hoping we can keep this thread alive through our waiting process and potentially our acceptances to build a group for our cohort.
Good Luck Everyone!
I applied to Post-Masters FNP, fingers crossed.
