Ohio State University(OSU) Traditional-entry MSN Fall 2020

Nursing Students NP Students

Updated:   Published

Hello All,

I am looking to connect with others who are applying to OSU's Traditional-Entry MSN program for Fall 2020 admission. Or, if anyone out there is currently in the program or recently graduated, I would love to hear your input on the school!

I am planning to apply to the PMHNP and have a BS in Biology and am completing an ADN in nursing currently. I am also a mental health technician on an inpatient psychiatric unit.

Advice, information, and encouragement for all current applicants is what I am hoping this thread is able to provide. Please introduce yourself and add anything you like relevant to the OSU MSN traditional-entry programs.

Good luck during this cycle everyone!

Good luck to you all on your future endeavors! ?

Hi all,

I got accepted to the PMHNP track. Just finished my BSN through an accelerated program. Secondly, I already have a Master in Clinical Counseling and decided to make the switch to nursing.

My GPA was in the low 3’s. But I would say I think my experience in multiple clinical settings has helped me get in. I previously applied to the Grad Entry and was declined, so I tried this way through the traditional and it worked out.

Best of Luck to everyone!

Specializes in BSN, RN.

I was accepted to the part-time online FNP program last week. Only a bit over 1.5 years experience but at top hospitals, GPA 3.9. I think decisions are like any program, all over the place, they have their reasons for some and not for others.

Specializes in Emergency Medicine.

Heads up, if you did not get in and want to apply to another speciality they reopened the deadline for several specialities from March 2-April 1.

Specializes in Psychiatry.

Hi there. I wanted to know more info on the personal essay. Did you guys just talk about your experience and goal or was it a scholarly paper with references? Or a mix of both?

Specializes in Emergency Medicine.

Experience goals, what lead you to apply to the program etc..

I found the questions and prompts they had on the website to be very helpful in narrowing down what to speak about in my statement. They want to see linking of all the questions to overall career and professional goals.
