people say that everybody in medicine has got something, something that totally grosses them out.this tissue, organ, bodily function is avoided at all costs or you'll :barf01:.
i haven't come acrossed mine yet... (i'm a little scared of what it'll be, i know its lurking out there somewhere).

stupid people tend to gross me out. unfortunately, there seems to be an abundance of them.
I'm embarassed to admit this but I can't take it when pts come into er with wounds like a laid open knee or a not too big of a deal dog bite, but there's that raw meat look before doc stitches them up. I had to assist a doc with a dog bite to a lip and I had to leave the room. Doc was fuming, I didn't care. I headed straight for the bathroom where I could sit in peace with my head between my knees. I keep trying to get better. I think I must hold my breath and then get light headed. Now my plan is to do some pursed lip breathing. I just want to get over this!
Puke no big deal to me. The things that bother me (I work neurosurg ICU ) is watching them drill for subarachnoid bolt placement, or EVD placement. I get dizzy watching them. I can set up the EVD but would rather have someone else help with placement. Especially when the slice the scalp. Something about watching the drilling gets me and you think after 2 years of this I would be so used to it.
Also suctioning trachs (which I deal with since I have gotten used to them) and oral care on someone who's mouth has been neglected for a while. Gross! :barf01:
