people say that everybody in medicine has got something, something that totally grosses them out.

this tissue, organ, bodily function is avoided at all costs or you'll :barf01:.

i haven't come acrossed mine yet... (i'm a little scared of what it'll be, i know its lurking out there somewhere).

what's yours?

I couldn't agree more! Two things keep me going to the dentist regularly -- having to deal with the dreaded denture inside MY OWN mouth when they gross me out if I don't go, having to face my dentist grandfather in the next life and explain why I let my teeth go and I guess a third thing would be that our dentist lives two houses away and is a good friend. He'd haul me into his office by my toe, with me kicking and screaming the entire way, if he had to. Did I mention he's a pedie dentist?

Just this week I gagged at the dentist when the assistant REMOVED THE BATWING XRAY THINGIES FROM MY MOUTH!! How ridiculous is THAT?!?

Then just be glad you don't have a shar-pei! They are adorable and have great personalities and are real lovers but because of how their muzzles and nasal canals re designed, they're champion snorers and mucus producers. During people allergy season, sometimes their noses run too... Gotta love 'em though.

Too bad he can't learn to blow his nose. Sorry for your experience.

mom, this dog has long thick strings of mucus that collect LEAVES in them! When she goes outside she drags half the yard back in with her stuck in her snot. Ok, I'm making myself sick :(

Poor doggie, she's had surgery on her sinuses and has been on numerous rounds of antibiotics. Now she's on allergy meds, but nothing really works.

Poor baby! Baby wipes might help keep her cleaner and more comfortable. They remove all kinds of cat or dog crud (some of which is pretty funky) and leave a pleasant but not perfumy smell behind. Just clean -- or maybe cleaner. They need to check with her vet. Our last shar-pei took the children's strength of an allergy/cold pill, but rig

ht now, the brand name escapes me. There is a potentially lethal to dogs ingredient in most pedi cold/allergy meds and the vet can give her owner the name of a safe one which could be used when her allergies are worst. One of our vet's ideas was to hold warm moist compresses over his muzzle, changing prn for about 10 minutes. Must have felt good because he relaxed and closed his eyes.

Mouth care I will get very weak very quick over that, I am very particular with the cna's about this area.

"I'm ashamed and embarrassed to say just today I heaved myself silly because my cousin's DOG with allergies blew a huge string of tenacious yellow snot booger.....oh, geeze!! I'm still weak-stomached. " -truern

GAAAAAACCCCKKKKK! Having to wear sox (maybe even in bed and in the shower too) should be mandatory once people get past the cute little baby feet age. And, of course, sandals would be out the window unless you signed a contract agreeing to keep them ungross or face very heavy fines or maybe heavy labor for a repeat offense...

Lol sharpeimom you crack me up but you speak the truth!!

I don't think there's a nurse in the world who doesn't retch when changing a colostomy bag. It's just one of those things.

Emptying that NG suction container full of bile can occasionally get me going, too.

I've never blown chunks, but I have retched and had to swallow--hard--to keep things where they're supposed to be.
