I have followed your journey with interest and it certainly seems you have been shafted

They give every nurse an amended contract to sign just before their US immigration interview and expect them to sign it. Funny, wonder why they do not do it before that? They think that they have you over a barrel and will sign anything.

I wounder if USCIS and US Embassy are aware of these practices? Your I-140 was approved on the basis of the original contract, not the updated one, and I am sure that they are not resubmitting it each time to the authorities to be approved.

A realistic cancellation clause is $5,000 to $10,000 US. $45,000 and that just means that way too many nurses are walking away from them, and I wonder why. A contract is a two way street, and both parties need to agree to it. But that is a full year's pay in some states.

What in the world were they thinking..........???????

They have given me till tomorrow to sign. I wont sign it. It's a **** amendment.

The orignial contact says, both parties must agree in writing and sign.

It also says, OGP will petition for the nurse.

They can stick their amendment.

Read your orginal contacts people.

I am an American nurse. OGP tries these tricks w/ travelers here, who are just looking to travel from state to state.

I got wise and did not sign. I know some one else who did, and regretted it very much.

Smart move not to sign. And I wonder how often that they have submitted the amended contract to USCIS? This is something that they are required to do, as the petition was approved based on the original contract.

They have been doing this to everyone for sometime and it is not right.

Hi,

I have just had by corporate bullying session on the phone (they wont put their views in writing) wonder why. basically we have been told if we dont sign the new contract the job offer in the states will be retracted which will delay the process.

We have bent over backwards for this firm and this is how we are treated. It seems crazy, untill I get out there I can't earn any money for OGP but they dont seem bothered they will just stick us to the bottom of the pile.

Any advice please??

reading this thread they dont seem like a god firm to work for can anyone recommend any other companies. I have pased the NCLEX and the Visa just waiting for the US Embassy interview.

Cheers

Hi! I am new to allnurses.com. I emailed OGP last 27/09/06 bluntly saying I"m not going to sign it. They are not offering any job for my husband even before and when we reach there in America, so why should he be included in the contract? Besides, I shoulder all the expenses for my husband to join me there. Even so, I cannot also get an assurance from them whether I can live and work to the place where I want to be (which is one of their promises) because some invitations were coming from everywhere and at times not within my scope of experience which is medical-surgical nursing. HUh! can't they not see the logic on this? I told them that a contract should not only be one side of a coin. There's no way I'm signing it..... Until now they haven't replied to my comment.

Thanks for the reply. Trust me they will be in touch! You'll get the same threats that we have received. wait and see.

good luck and keep in touch

its all very well saying read your contract people, but when you are being told various things like, no sponsership from us or the hospital wont employ you if you wont sign it puts the whole thing into a new light

for example is anyone here really going to call their bluff and not sign it a couple of days before their interview and risk not going to the USA at all?????

after all, thats our objective and reason for joining OGP in the first place, i mean how many of us in total are ogp nurses on here? quite a few i would imagine, OGP read this forum they know who most of us are, can they risk letting one of us get away with not signing and telling everyone on here?? personally i think not, it would be a big corporate mistake to allow it.

Of course this is all just guess work but there have been a few discussions about it in our house over the last few days and the conclusion we have come to is if you dont sign, you really wont be going, plain and simple, as OGP appear to be loosing money.

Im not saying the contract is right, far from it and its an appalling way to treat nurses who are under enough stress as it is,especially as many are so close to interviews/flying, but im saying you may well find there is no choice in the matter, because regardless of what the law or original contract says, its all to do with how bad you really want to go to the USA.

I will be interested to see if anyone doesnt actually signs because i believe everyone of us will one way or the other and OGP know it.

I am not signing. OGP will know who I am any way so I don't mind saying on here that I am taking legal action against this unfair breach of contract on their part.

I have seen a solicitor, and although he said it will take a while, I will win. I have no great need to rush to the States. I can wait. This is a matter of principle as far as I am concerned. I have my original contract and I'm happy with it.
