Officially an RN!

Published

I just found out today that I passed! I've graduated 2010 that's why I was scared to take the nclex cause I thought everything has been put to sleep in my head! My computer shut off at 150+ Took me 3.5 hrs. I actually started to worry when I was offered the scheduled break after 2 hrs because I was only at 72!!! So I took a break just to relax myself and took several deep breaths then went back in. Then 1.5 hrs went out for a break again then after like 3-5 questions my screen went blue. I actually was happy because my last question was a SATA. I had around 24 SATAs, 2 ekg strips ( I prayed not to have any! My first one appeared at the first ten questions!!) had 4 pictures, ALOT OF PRIORITY questions, infection control, ALOT of meds and herbals (1 I was not familiar with), 1 computation & no drag and drop questions!

My study tools were mainly Hurst (highly recommended! Took all Q REVIEWS scores were 84-104) , NCLEX 10000 (reached level 5), PDA by La Charity, Nclex 3500 (just for SATA's because nclex 10000 don't have that option if you only want to answer alternate type of questions. I answered around 100 and did this 2 days before my scheduled date!), NCSBN LEARNING EXTENSION (answered all quizzes and some of the practice banks!) I also had the Saunders book which i finished a year ago because I started studying 2013, i didn't know that NY takes a long time to process. But still no regrets because I still learned from it especially that I am a foreign graduate. And oh I attended READY TO PASS review they were really helpful!

All in all I had a lot of basic concepts which I got a bit worried about too. But when I finished the test I was actually smiling. I don't know why but I was just calm my boyfriend even noticed it when he came to get me. A lot of prayers helped! I kept in my mind 'thy will be done Lord you know what's in my heart' And then after 46hrs of waiting finally I saw that my quick results was available! I closed my eyes when I hit the submit button! Boy my heart stopped and couldn't believe I saw the word PASS!!!! To God be the Glory!!!!

Congratulations! Feels amazing doesn't it?

maricar2013 Congrats I am so happy for you!!

I am using Hurst videos and i filled all the papers while listening to videos... I don't have access of their questions but I am using Kaplan, kaplan strategy book and PDA, i have lippinicot SATA too. If I focus on Hurst contents and their online materials should be enough in terms of contents overall?

Thank you!!!

I would say hurst helped a lot I had questions from their content but I would suggest if you still have time to read some more on other sources. But don't stress yourself too much because the test is really random you wouldn't know what question you'll get. I only studied like 2-3 hrs a day max.

maricar2013 I used Brilliant nurse for strategy.. I have kaplan strategy book and I also do have Saunders but I don't want overwhelm myself.. I will do read more contents and maybe look over Saunders book. I do have 2 months to study :) I am nervous since its my second attempt!!
Specializes in None yet..

Amazing!!!

Congratulations, you can feel confident that your knowledge is deep and strong for you to pass almost four years after you graduated.

I bet there's an interesting story there.... care to share?

wow!! Congratz maricar2013. I graduated 2009!! and taking the exam next week... I can feel how you have to struggle getting back all those we've forgotten nsg. stuffs.

Congratulations! It is time for a new chapter in life =D

Congrats! Doesn't it feel amazing? The first thing I did was clean out all my unnecessary books, deleted all my nursing practice question apps, and had a drink with some friends. Enjoy the weekend! You deserve it!

Yes it sure does! I did the very same thing the next day! Cleaned everything out including my wall where I posted lab values and important stuffs to remember and deleted every single nclex app on my phone! Felt so good to say good bye to all of them! ???

Ohhhw! When I came here in US after a week or 2 I believe my family started to give me books for NCLEX! I went crazy studying for a loooooong time! Hahha

My working experience helped too as I am an RN in my home country and was able to practice for 1.5 yrs. My last question was meningitis which my last patient had the same case so I was really relieved and happy and thankful!!!

The day of my NCLEX when I came home I received a sad news that a family member died the very same time I started my exam! ??
