Applied for RN and day LPN; accepted into day LPN

TEAS 88.2

Pre-Req GPA 3.4

Nothing done yet - no physical, no uniforms, no CPR nothing!!! Anyone want to do CPR together if possible?? Also, who wants to help me get together ~$1500 in the next 6w so I can pay for classes, books and the first month of $600/mo daycare?? :crying2: Ahhhhhh!!!

Thanks Jen. :) I'm trying to not stress but it's hard, it's kinda like waiting for that acceptance letter. I can't wait until orientation and then it will all feel like it's set in stone.

How cool about your pink engraved stethoscope coming in! I'm thinking maybe I'll get a purple one.

Question so I read it said if you had Polio shots as a child you can put childhood and they will take your word for it. Maybe I shouldn't bother with my immunizations records because they want proof of immunity of MMR and Varicella in the last 3 years. So I guess I'll just get the boosters. What do they mean by bloodwork, just for the titers?

I understand what you mean by the stress :) I am very good at doling out reasonable and logical advice, but even as I hand it out, I am poor at taking my own advice...lol

I would assume that the bloodwork mean titers. They took tons of blood for my titers.

Who is ready to start re-planning that get together?

Who wants to carpool to orientation?

Happy Saturday :)

Ok I can't get my Hep B vaccine records as my previous employer can not/will not pull since I've been gone over a year and if was 7 yrs since I've been seen at the clinic so my records probably are gone by now.

Can you get the Hep B series twice? Also my new Physician doesn't give the MMR booster or the PPD test. That added to my daughter's surgery on Thursday and my hubby going out of town on Weds w. my other daughter for some work out of state. And my full time work schedule.

This really sucks for me right now.

There is a titer for Hep B. Are you sure you need the booster for MMR? They should be able to do a titer for that, too. They don't do MMR bosters and PPD? Huh? Do you need a new doctor?? (sorry, I know it is frustrating as heck) But seriously, do you?

You know you can sign the release for hep b, and you'll be all set. It simply states you are declining and you realize the risk (but since you know you have had it, then really, you are all set and there is no risk). I have to sign it even though I am undergoing the series right now because I will not be finished before orientation. I did note on my form that I am undergoing the series, though :)

I know this is not terribly helpful--although I just re-read it and maybe it is! Good luck.

Yes I've decided to go the to Clinic at Walgreens for my physical instead of my new Primary Care Dr. since they do the PPD my last MMR was in high school (which was abour 16yrs ago.....SADLY). If you can suggest a Doc that I can get into quickly as a new patient I'm game. I hold our health insurance right now so I'm trying to use as many benefits as I can since I've paid for it but haven't used them.

Pasco County Health Department locations with clinics offer the following: MMR Titer: $33, Vericella Titer: $22.78, TB Skin Test: $20 (Only take cash or check)

Pasco Hours of Operation

Doctor's Walk-In locations offer physicals for only $20.

Hey Everyone,

This is a LONG thread.. lol. I just finished the LPN program at PHCC (North Campus-days). Just submitted my last assignment yesterday, and all thats left to do is walk at our pinning ceremony on Tuesday- so excited!

Also, I read a few responses about shoes for clinicals. Just a word of advice, invest in a REALLY comfortable pair. Trust me on this. I bought a pair of white k-swiss shoes, that were cheap, all-white and comfy when I bought them.. and now I want to burn them. A lot of people in our program bought the nursemates, and ended up buying new pairs of shoes bc we wanted to chop our feet off at the end of the day. Kind of a waste of money in the end.

If you all have any questions, please let me know. I am more than happy to answer them now that I've actually got some free-time.. :)

Congrats to all!

Steph

Shep626:

I would like to ask if you have any tips for surviving the program, hardest part, easiest part? Any advice you have to offer?

Thanks,

Kelly

I'm not sure how to PM you, but I will take the Taber's Medical Dictionary. If you can Pm me with your #.

Does anyone know when the books will be available in the bookstore? I want to start price comparing.

MJ, I'll check the bookstore tomorrow before my Microbiology class and post on here what I find out.

Lets do Brass Tap soon! How about this Saturday Night?

Does anyone else just get on Wise and check for kicks to see their profile showing

Major: Nursing at least once a day like I do? I just love seeing it!! :D

I do an audit so I can see of those beautiful A's all lined up. Plus, I like to see that everything is DONE except for the NUR courses :)

I can get out for a bit this Saturday evening. Let's plan it!
