OCC - 2010 applicants / 2011 ADN prospective students

U.S.A. Michigan

Hey everyone! Im back for my second application into the ADN program at OCC ::sigh:: As I did in the thread I created last year, I am creating a new one for all those applying to the nursing progam for next fall. Lets keep in touch and keep one another updated. Good luck guys!!! :)

I heard from a nursing student that the profesors are saying that there will not be an accelerated program this year. Then again though, they say that every year!

I can no longer wait for that letter.... 1 more month!! But really last yr they said there isn't gonna be one and they accepted 30 students... And they received the grant a wk b4 march 18

if they did offer it would you consider the accelerated over the regular? i have no idea what i would choose!

I would because I want to get my mAsters in Cns... I feel like because I still have a long way to go in school that 8 mnths difference will be beneficial, however, if I didn't have so much schooling I would choose the traditional route because the accelerated you can only do Ur clinicals at DMc whereas the traditional it's different hospital every semester. Yet we might not even Have the choice who knows. Also, at least you can be with the students you took the prerequisites, that thought alone made me debate whether I really wanted it or not!! You have more friends who are willing to help!!! I dnt know there's good and bad! but I would choose the acceletated because of the bsn.

I need that letter now. I applied in freaking Oct. It's absurd how long we have to sit around and wait, and even moreso that if we do get in we still have to sit around until Sept!!! Right now I'm doing a whole bunch of nothing while they sit around and decide my fate. I keep having anxiety that someone will have a human error moment and miscalculate my gpa for the worse, as did happen to someone on this board! I don't have time to wait another year, I want my life to get started!

Hold on another month, its going by fast. Try to enjoy your last break before the program starts, Im sure you will make it! Keep busy, busy, it will take your mind off it. Make a plan for the checklist you will have to complete before Sept. Immunizations, physical, Basic life support, etc. All of my paperwork is due next week and I was running over to the health dept today to get my TD shot. I still have one thing left, the Flu shot.

Good luck to all of you!

OCC's accelerated program is not a bsn. It's an associates degree just like the traditional program :)

Oh ya I know it's an associate lol but I have to get my bachelor after I'm done from occ so that way I can get a masters, that's why I'm anxious to find out about the accelerated!!! Good luck to u all!!!
