What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

Hanibal (hannibal?).

prince george jordan.

had that one yesterday

I recently worked in CNA clinicals with a "Happy Joy". I thought it was great- and so did she. The name fit her personality -that's for sure!

My son went to school with a "Twilight Creamer" - that's a Media-star name if I ever heard one!

At the moment in our NICU we have Scarlett Rain. Hmmm...

I agree! :lol2:

A man at my work was named Franko Matic.

Another man at work was named Phat Dong, which might have been fine in his country of origin, but did not translate well. The boss called him Pat.

I have had Kassim Kassim, Hussein Hussein (both of middle eastern discent). I have had phone calls from Beautiful in the lab, Twinkles from the Detroit News. I had to try hard not to laugh each time. I had another one from a fellow employee the other day but I forgot what it was. I work with a chinese woman whose frist name is Xu but goes by her last name Lifang. I have had male patients with female names. I have had a Tracy, and a Lauren and others. There is a hockey player named Jodi. I went to church with a Sparkle and Sundae. Sundae grew up and had a daughter of her own and carried on the goofy name tradition and named her Blue Azlun Phillip (baby daddy name) Prohpeht (last name). I have heard of others being named Blue,Purple, and other color names. I have taken dance lessons with a girl named Aquanetta, Portia (like the car), Mercedes.

There is a country somewhere, I can't remember which one, which has approval over baby names. When the parents register the child, the government can force them to change the child's name if it's something ridiculous or frivolous. I think it might be Denmark. Denmark wanted to bring in a "minimum IQ to breed" program, but it was deemed to be against human rights. I am all in favour, seeing some of the 'parents' I do!

I have a Finnish friend who says this is the case in Finland. The name-changing bit, I mean. The latter would be nice if it were implemented worldwide.
