A Surgigator is a device installed in the bathroom of post-partum rooms (and perhaps others as well) that allows the patient to easily irrigate her perineum while using the toilet. It has a disposable "wand" that attaches to a permanent flexible hose which provides gentle jets of tap water. Cartridges containing a mild soap can also be added for cleansing. Instructing a newly-delivered patient on its use is part of post-patum teaching.
