Ob-GYN nurses- Do you think Dad/the father should or should not be in delivery room?

Published

Have you ever had a case where the mom actually didn't want the dad in the delivery room b/c of various reasons(aggravation, etc)

Whats your opinion? I think I would find it annoying that the man who MADE me pregnant was right there in my face while I am in complete and total pain!!

I wouldn't even consider NOT allowing the father of my child into the delivery room. Now, if he is freaking out... and causing the staff issues, then yes, I think the mother has the right to ask him to leave, or the staff for that matter.

If he is man enough to conceive a child, then he is man enough to watch the birth.

One would hope that a person wouldn't find themselves married to/making babies with someone who aggrivates and annoys them.

It is not the dark ages the father should be in the room. It will at least provide him with a better understanding of what his wife (old school) or girl friend is going thru. I was in only for my last child the first to I was out of country due to military.

umm yeah mom makes the call but you sound like you may have issues. I'm not sure what has happend that has made you see conception of a baby as an assult on you. I think you should talk about stuff like this before you make a baby

MADE you pregnant????

Darn, I knew I did something wrong! LOL, ok he only aggravates and annoys sometime.

Guys, I think the OP was just thinking about the "TV" kinda births where mom is screaming "you did this to me, you #$@%$$" KWIM? Some people really think it is like that, especially if they don't have kids, or nieces/nephews etc.
