Hi! I was wondering if anybody out there has interviewed for Oakland University's ABSN program for the FAll of 2011 cohort. I think it will be 3 to 4 weeks before we find out if we will get accepted or not. I wish everyone good luck and hopefully receive good news!
I just wanted to write on here that I cannot wait to hear the good news I am sure you guys will be soon to hear :) I could not help but follow your thread since the summer, I applied to my program then as well. I was curious about the thread because I took a semester there too in anticipation of applying to their generic BSN but changed my mind. I just wanted to wish you guys the very best of luck!
Thanks for the encouraging words, guys. I'm so used to hearing "Thanks, but no thanks" or "Maybe next time around". I just wish the news would arrive so I can move on with my life. I've been applying for so long now. I don't have plan B, other than to just try to find a job - but we all know what that looks like. :) Hopefully we will start hearing some news here soon! I'm especially interested because no one has heard any news, that I know of anyway. Whether it is good or bad.
Hi Evansmom,
I didn't get any of that information, but I just remember last time I interviewed the second week of March and knew by the beginning of April whether I got in or not. Maybe this time things have changed and we will know later than 4 weeks. Do you know if the acceptance letters are just a single page like the rejection letters? I couldn't remember if you got all the deposit information with the acceptance letter or if that came separate.
hopefully! At the end of this week will mark 4 weeks. I must have turned in my stuff late because I never got anything in the mail about the interview process. Reading different threads people said acceptance letters were just one piece of paper like rejection letters. I hope we all get good news...and SOON!!! I can't handle this waiting period!
Nothing from OU came in the mail today. I just got some e-mail out of the blue to interview in October. I didn't even re-apply. I would think they keep records if you interviewed before or not. I am glad this time went well. Last time I knew I wasn't getting in for sure since my interview didn't go well, so at least this time I can say I did my best! I also read on some posts that interviewers made comments on GPA, but GPA didn't come up in my interview, just asked about my goal statement. That was it! I just hope OU looks at the whole package and not just based on grades.
My interviewer told me that undergrad GPAs are alloted 15 points on the point scale they use to determine acceptance, and he made it sound like it was a significant amount of the total and he was pretty adamant about it. I've had a couple of emails back and forth with the department heads and the adviser, and they all are sticking their claim of how they DO NOT look at undergrad GPAs. So who knows what the truth is....Maybe it's taking so long b/c I've asked them about it in so much detail that they are reevaluating the entire process in order to ensure that people aren't being rejected for GPA reasons.... (this is my wishful thinking lol)
My undergrad gpa wasn't talked about in my interview. I highly doubt undergrad gpa counts at all towards the nursing program. As. Long as you have a satisfactory undergrad gpa I don't see how it matters. During my first and second interview I was told the interview and grades are weighed heavily. A great interview can help you out if you're grades aren't that high. It has been awhile since I've been to an informational meeting. Are all clinicals regardless of when you start at riverview?
GPA wasn't discussed at my interview either. My interviewer just asked me about my goal statement and application (GPA's in my pre-requisites). Hmmmm...I wonder. I didn't get anything in the mail today. Maybe tomorrow. I had to resubmit my entire application. In fact, they told me to rewrite my application essay. I turned my application in around mid-September and received a letter saying that I was eligible to interview and it was in that letter where it said we will be notified by December 15. In the past, the deposit due date has been around the same date that goes out in the letters. If that is the case this time as well, I would assume they would be sending out acceptance letters anytime. Just so people have a chance to get the deposit money together. But, I don't know. I am just speculating. I thought my interview went well, much better than the one I had in July - so I am hoping for good news. But I guess we will see. I was pretty much assuming all the acceptance letters would be going out by the end of this week.

Hi Everyone,
I interviewed last March and I received my rejection letter on the same day as my friend received her acceptance letter, so I think they all went out around the same time. I know of another person who got an acceptance letter too that same day as well. A couple of other people who got rejection letters. Don't lose hope yet!! Hang in there!
I was also an alternate for EMU's and never got in and on U of M's waitlist as well. Madonna's program I heard good things about and was going to apply there, however, the cost is really expensive to opted not to apply after I had my advising appt. They took all of my classes too, but just couldn't afford the tuition.
There are also community colleges to look into as well if OU doesn't work out.
Hopefully we will know by the end of this week what is going on with OU, hang in there! I know it is hard!
