Does anyone know the details of orientation for a new graduate hired onto a medsurg unit at NYU? Do we get classroom time before going onto the unit or are we put straight onto the unit?

Have you spoke to a recruiter yet? There were able to explain everything. I did not pick medsurg tho

Yes I did. I accepted a job and am starting at the end of the month but I wasnt exactly clear on the orientation process. I thought I was told I only have 4 weeks but that seems way too short to me

I actually accepted a job as well starting mid-September. I am not sure how long orientation is but I have heard it lasts 12 weeks, with some lectures and at the end on the unit

That’s crazy. I was looking into the OR. The said the orientation was 8 weeks which I thought is usually 6 months. I am guessing they are slashing everyone’s orientation

What type of unit if you don't mind me asking? Because I think something like the Emergency room is definitely longer but I'm hoping we still get a decent orientation on a med surg unit.

They told me the orientation for ICU Float team is 12 weeks… way too short, especially as a new grad. NYU is stingy, I wouldn’t be surprised if medsurg orientation is just 4 weeks.

Anyone know the holiday requirement? I would imagine each unit is different in how they choose who works each holiday but usually there are universal requirements (I.e., every other holiday; half of all the holidays, etc.)

Hi guys do you know when the fall 2022 new grad positions will be posted?

same question here, all of them still say Spring haha, do we just apply to those ones? Am an august grad!

I was wondering if anyone can give me information on if they have started NYU’s new grad residency, what unit they’re in, and how long was the hiring process.
I recently had 3 interviews and was told by the hiring manager to wait for HR to contact me. I have other offers at another hospital but would prefer to go with NYU as I’m going for the ICU resource unit.

Hi, have you heard back with an offer or email? My friend got hired through the Spring application and she told me a recruiter emailed her an offer 3 days after interviewing. I interviewed last Friday and it’s a Tuesday now. Wondering how long they will take.

Hello,

Did anyone apply to the Spring application when it first opened and were later offered a position a week or so after interviewing? I applied to the Fall app the first week it opened and completed the interview process quickly. It's been a week since I interviewed and I haven't heard anything. Did anyone have a similar experience where they waited a while and were offered a position 1-3 weeks later?
