I'm starting a job at MSKCC soon and was wondering if anyone has insight into orientation? Do we have any time in the classroom/online before actually going on the floor with a preceptor and if so, how long?

Anyone know the holiday requirement? I would imagine each unit is different in how they choose who works each holiday but usually there are universal requirements (I.e., every other holiday; half of all the holidays, etc.)

What type of unit if you don't mind me asking? Because I think something like the Emergency room is definitely longer but I'm hoping we still get a decent orientation on a med surg unit.

Yes I did. I accepted a job and am starting at the end of the month but I wasnt exactly clear on the orientation process. I thought I was told I only have 4 weeks but that seems way too short to me

Does anyone know the details of orientation for a new graduate hired onto a medsurg unit at NYU? Do we get classroom time before going onto the unit or are we put straight onto the unit?
