NYU New Grad Residency Spring 2020

Published

Hey guys! I haven't seen a thread for this yet so I thought this would be helpful to keep each other updated. Have any of you heard anything about the program yet?

I began interviewing in May, before I graduated. It took about 3-4 weeks before manager interview and then I was offered to be put on waitlist the same day after I interviewed with the manager.

@storm30 What unit did you interview for?

Those of you who have gotten interviews, what was your GPA?

I hope you get the job soon! I didn't get an offer yet but the recruiter said the nurse manager still did not make a final decision. I hope I get it even if there is a waiting list because it was very difficult to get an interview in the first place. I keep applying to whatever I see but no responses besides this so I really hope it goes well.

I hope you get the job as well! don't lose hope, keep applying! Because of the freeze, everything is moving so so slowly! I’m in the offer waitlist which means that after the freeze, they will assess their needs and start giving final offers to those who have not already accepted. It's not a lot but its something, I’m just getting impatient. Good luck & keep us posted!

Oncology

Specializes in Nursing.

I started a new thread for a mount sinai fellowship. My first time starting one so hopefully I did it correctly

Does anyone have any updates?

also has anyone accepted a job not in NYU? How is the freeze affecting your job perspectives?

No updates. I’ve been emailing my HR rep and haven’t heard back. Starting to get really worried.

I emailed HR months ago and got a response last week. They said they are on a hiring freeze and will be having budget meetings to discuss what is happening. They told me to email back in about 2 weeks for an update but when I responded with a question I didn't even get an answer LOL. As far as the job hunt goes its been miserable. I went to a small private school in NY and my goal was to stay in NYC post-grad. Now all the hospitals seem to be on hiring freezes. I've applied out-of-state/ all over the U.S. and have been getting rejected or hearing nothing. It's been a grueling process... ?

@coffelovernurse + the rest of us who have also been anxiously waiting...

I got intel from a friend who applied internally (she's works as a researcher) and had an interview this week, that NYU has decided to postpone the Spring (as well as the fall) residencies this year.

I trust her. She said she heard correctly. But please, take this with a grain of salt. There is always room for error.

Just thought an update like this -- albeit discouraging -- would still be appreciated given that we're just all trying to figure out our next moves/lives.

This is the type of *fake news* that I would love to be corrected on. So please, if anyone can refute this, please do so!
