Hello I recently applied for a position at NYU, they sent me an email recently saying to complete an online questionnaire or assessment tool. Is that a good sign? Do I have a good chance of hearing back?

I wonder how is the pharm exam

@DWinNY Congrats on receiving your offer letter! I didn't have a problem scheduling the physical/paperwork since my nurse recruiter cc-ed the point person for that in our emails. I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble contacting your point person. In any case, I'll tell you about my experience. When he contacted me in mid-November, the date that he had in mind was in early December but I begged for him to schedule me in sooner and he was really great about it since he penciled me in for an extra early appointment at employee health services and had me come in for paperwork right after the appointment right before the Thanksgiving holiday. One thing that I had to follow-up on was whether or not I received a TD or TDAP (I had to ask my PHP to fax them documentation that I received a TDAP). Also, you don't get a PPD rather they draw blood (I think it's called quantiferon?) and you call them two days later to ask them if you are cleared. I found that the physical/paperwork process as a whole was relatively painless as long as you had documentation (immunization records, original diploma, transcripts, federal/state IDs) and filled out everything required (tax forms, background check forms, etc.). Hope that helps! Oh! And I'm glad you got the BLS out of the way too. :) Hope you enjoy the rest of this month off before you start orientation next month.

@greatgirl123 The pharm exam is a piece of cake. If you were able to pass dosage calculation exams in nursing school it should be a no brainer.

@humblenurse12 I heard from my recruiter as well as my NM that the end of the year is a really busy time for NMs in general. From my understanding they have to do employee evaluations and that is quite time consuming. It might be that that is what is creating a delay for you. Also, the person to contact (in my case) was not the recruiter but the recruiter's assistant for scheduling the interview with the NM. Hope you hear from someone soon!

@sc128, thank you for your response! Very helpful in letting me know what to expect and prepare for along this process. I sent another follow up email to my point person this morning and they reached out this afternoon; my appointment for physical and paperwork will be in around a week and half. Glad to finally have this scheduled. I honestly should be in no rush considering how far away my start date is, but I guess I just like to check off things on the to-do list as soon as possible! Anyway, enjoy your last week off before orientation!!

I'm from out of state (Florida) and looking to apply to the program. Can anyone tell me, are you able to apply prior to graduating/getting your sit pass? (I graduate on Friday and have all my ducks in a row to get my pass.) I didn't plan on submitting my application until my final grades are in (since they ask for your transcripts), but I didn't know if I'd be rejected since I don't currently have the green light to sit for the test. Should I wait till I get the ok from the board of nursing? (I'm also taking the test for Florida and just plan on paying the fee to have it endorsed for NY if need be.)

Secondly, does anyone happen to know when they accept people for the program? I know some places only have orientations twice a year. I saw a previous post that mentioned both a December and January orientation, but did that imply that they are constantly accepting people to the program? I just don't know if I should be applying now or wait till I have my license for NY (which may be 2-3 months).

If anyone happens to know, I really appreciate the reply!

Congrats to both @DWinNY and @SC128 for getting the offer. Welcome of the family.

FYI 2-3 days after getting your blood test done be sure to call them and have them forward over the result to your point person at nurse recruitment. They (at employee health) tend to forget. Also get your BLS updated if it expires soon.

Good luck to both of you.

@bionicRN Thank you! I'm very excited!

@lkws5 As I understand it you don't apply to the program directly, rather you apply to open positions and if you are a new grad you are automatically a part of the new grad residency program. I can't shed light on whether or not they accept applications from students and unfortunately I don't know much about the orientation schedule. Perhaps posting a more general question on the New York Nursing board may yield more helpful information. Good luck!

Thank you! That makes a little more sense. I have been accepted at another residency program but it runs very differently than what the NYU program seems to be. I'll probably just wait till I've graduated before I submit my application, just to be safe :)

Question for @bionicRN and @sc128 - did you complete and return your new hire packet via email/fax to your point person prior to your appointment? I can't fill out/type in the boxes on the PDF on my computer nor do I have easy access to a fax machine...wasn't sure if they require us to complete this prior to coming in (I will find a way if necessary), or if I can wait until my appointment.

@DWinNY I emailed the Background check stuff, but it doesn't really matter. Fill it out and bring it to them in person whenever you're next meeting with them.

@DWinNY I printed out the packet, filled it out by hand, and gave it to the point person at my appointment. Make sure you bring everything to your appointment (original documents, not copies, since he will make copies there). Good luck!

Thank you @bionicRN and @sc128 for your helpful responses! I'm going to try to get my completed paperwork scanned onto a computer to email it back; if not I'll just bring the original papers to my appointment. @bionicRN, I hope work has been going well for you and @sc128, have a great first week!!

One more question for you all already working at NYU - where did you guys buy your green scrubs?
