Members are discussing the hiring process at NYU Langone, sharing experiences with phone screens, interviews, and references. Some express frustration with the website, while others offer advice on navigating the application process and timelines for hiring. Questions about salary offers for new grads and comparisons between hospitals are also brought up.
Hello I recently applied for a position at NYU, they sent me an email recently saying to complete an online questionnaire or assessment tool. Is that a good sign? Do I have a good chance of hearing back?
I don't see that as being an obstacle. If you look at my timeline, I filled applications for Langone since May. I have other experienced nurses in my orientation cohort, though they are not eligible for the residency program. The 3.5 minimum is only for the residency program. You have a BSN and what sounds like current hospital experience on a GI unit. You got some goods! Have you tried Presbyterian and Mt Sinai as well? Or Langone is your only choice?
i have tried both of them for Presbyterian I have not had any luck. And mount sinai I have not received an answer as well. Thank you all for the support. I was getting discourage about applying. Langone is not my only choice. I know I cannot be too picky about this process. I work at this endoscopy center that is affiliated with NYU. I am new to this cite and cannot see your post directly. What page is it on? And when did you finally hear from NYU? Again thank you all for the support!!!!
Wow, congrats qriousRN! When do you start orientation?
and THANK YOU SO MUCH for the post about your experience!!! I have an interview with NYU soon, and was wondering if you could shed some light on the clinical questions they ask. I can answer the behavioral ones, but I'm a little shaky on the clinical q's. Can you provide some examples from your interview? Ah I'm so nervous!
Hellosmile, orientation started on Monday, I am 4 days in.. Per my experience and that of a lot of my New Grad orientees, their interview wasn't clinically focused. It truly depends on the Nurse Manager. I was asked only one clinical question about care of a Post Op patient. For answering behavioral questions and the typical strengths / weaknesses, conflict resolution etc, all questions I was asked, IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT you give a past clinical experience to support your answer. Example: "I have the ability to multitask and adapt in unpredictable situations for example I had a patient in Med Surg......" ALWAYS give a real life example from your past experience to back up your answers. It will do wonders for your interview. GOOD LUCK!

I'm not a new grad. I am now a GI nurse but got my BSN with a GPA of 3.0. I'm worried that this might be why I am not getting a call back. Thanks for answering!
