Members are discussing the hiring process at NYU Langone, sharing experiences with phone screens, interviews, and references. Some express frustration with the website, while others offer advice on navigating the application process and timelines for hiring. Questions about salary offers for new grads and comparisons between hospitals are also brought up.
Hello I recently applied for a position at NYU, they sent me an email recently saying to complete an online questionnaire or assessment tool. Is that a good sign? Do I have a good chance of hearing back?

anyways, to nyc-locals.. desperate to find a hospital job, is their website really the best way?
Yes applying online is the best! That's what I did. Though it also helped me that I got the email to the recruiter from my school's career fair and I emailed her to let her know I applied. I'm not sure about the limit to jobs thing as I only applied to one listing.
If you're a new grad, the fall 2019 one for new grads isnt up yet.

if you don't mind.. can you send me the email to the recruiter? it's not even for me. it's for my wife i'm trying to help her get a job and she's getting depressed because of it.
i ask if online is still the best because i honestly feel the nyu langone website is broken.. for example: when i check application status, it only shows MAY applications.. we could apply to 3 jobs today and it won't say it at all or show anything when you try and check status ?
anyways if you don't mind, can you send me the email to the recruiter? she's not a new grad.. a recent nclex passer though ?

I just sent it! Note that I've heard that NYU is slow with hiring right now because they just hired a bunch of people over the summer and they're also dealing with internal transfers. My hiring process with them took 3 months so patience is definitely needed.

Hey, currently in the NYU hiring process, but outside of NYU and where I currently work, I have received interviews for the NYC Health+Hospitals so definitely look into applying on there if you're open to those hospitals (and they hire to speciality to units too). Obviously pay is substantially less, but the NYC market is tough and they have their nurse recruiter contact numbers for each individual hospital on there.
Also spoke to the nurse recruiter at NYU earlier this month and inquired about their hiring process and she said that for new grads you pretty much need to apply through the new grad link (the Spring one isn't up anymore) or if the position explicitly says they are looking for new grads. It takes a long time with NYU though; been in contact with them since May and they seem like they'e still interested but they're just getting to my interviews now.

thank you so much.. i wouldn't be this frustrated if their website actually worked for me! ? i can apply to 3 jobs today but it won't show up at all when i check status and it'll show me only jobs i applied to back in May.. patience is most definitely needed and once again, thank you and god bless you ?

I had the exact story as you. I did a phone screen and the same day was asked to schedule an in-person interview and was asked for references. The hiring process with NYU can take a long time from post-interview to offer depending on the nurse manager and unit. But HR is very nice about updates. If you think you're willing to wait for NYU, then go for it but if you have bills to pay or something, I'd take the other offer.

I am willing to wait! I just hope they don’t lead me on and I end up not guaranteed a job! ive never been asked for references at other hospitals before the interview so is this a good sign? thank you for the info! would you mind sharing what questions you were asked? HR and in-unit

I think it is a good sign! The questions for HR was harder than my in-unit haha. HR has a packet and they ask 5 questions and write your answers. I dont remember all of them but the ones I remember were: Tell me about a time you went above and beyond for a patient, Tell me about a time you gained someone's trust. My in-unit one, I was never really asked any formal questions but mine was my nurse manager and two other employees from the unit. They asked me about my work experience and it was mostly them explaining the unit, wanting to know why I chose the unit
@ElleWoods Would you mind sharing what the salary offer is for new grads? Thank you! Congrats on getting a job!
