NYC New Grad - ED NYC Health + Hospitals
So the nurse residency is required for all nurses who have less than 3-5 years experience so regardless of the position you apply for you will automatically be enrolled in the nurse residency program. Also the union just signed the new contract so the HHC system is required to hire 1200 nurses to keep up with staffing ratios so apply broadly! At my hospital there are new grads in ED, peds Ed, NICU, MICU, and stepdown that we’re recently hired so it seems most positions are open to new grads. tdlr; there are no new grad listings, just lots of them are open to new grads

NYC New Grad - ED NYC Health + Hospitals
Thank you for the info! I'm in Lincoln and starting soon. Did those that didn't have their PALS or TNCC have to get it prior to starting regular shifts/was on site training provided or can we get it later? Also how's it going in general? I don't have any nursing or ER experience outside of an ED/trauma preceptorship and wanted to know if you'd recommend reading up on anything.

NYC New Grad - ED NYC Health + Hospitals
How is your orientation going? I also got a position in a NYC Health + Hospital ED in the bronx. I was told full classroom orientation would be 2 weeks and orientation would be 20 weeks, but it wasn't really explained further. She did say during the entirety of this I would only go up to ESI III, and once I get my TNCC I'd manage ESI 1 & II. Additionally, she said I'd be enrolled in the New grad residency program (which starts in January I think) which lasts for a year and ends with a capstone. It's a 1 month meeting for the year and the residency is combined with all the NYC Health + Hospitals where they bus you to the hospital that month's meeting is being held at. I start mid November, so I'd love some insight on this.

NYU hiring process
Hey, currently in the NYU hiring process, but outside of NYU and where I currently work, I have received interviews for the NYC Health+Hospitals so definitely look into applying on there if you're open to those hospitals (and they hire to speciality to units too). Obviously pay is substantially less, but the NYC market is tough and they have their nurse recruiter contact numbers for each individual hospital on there. Also spoke to the nurse recruiter at NYU earlier this month and inquired about their hiring process and she said that for new grads you pretty much need to apply through the new grad link (the Spring one isn't up anymore) or if the position explicitly says they are looking for new grads. It takes a long time with NYU though; been in contact with them since May and they seem like they'e still interested but they're just getting to my interviews now. Congrats!

NYU hiring process
Did you tell you about the next few weeks things recently? That would make sense as the recruiter told me today that after November 1st they may have some spots opening, but atm it's scarce. Are you applying to other places/entertaining other offers in the meantime?

When did you take your NCLEX if you don't mind me asking? I took mine August 30th b/c it took so long to get my ATT so I think I may have missed on some potential opportunities because of that.

New grad jobs in NYC, should I wait?
Recently had a phone interview for NYU and the recruiter said to check back in November if no one reaches out since positions are scare these days. At my current hospital in the city they axed their summer/fall new grad residency due to a hiring freeze (though if I stayed I would probably start around April). My resume is good and I know people who got into NYP with tbh worse resumes b/c of a contact. Otherwise I've applied to pretty much every new grad position in a hospital in Manhattan/Brooklyn. I don't mind starting in dec/jan as long as I have an offer. Btw I graduated in May, but got my RN license in early September. I'm getting my Jersey license by the end of the month and wasn't sure if I should wait another month to see if NYU works out or should I just cut my losses and apply out of state. Additionally if anyone has any tips to get into literally any hospital in manhattan/brooklyn feel free to share lol.

NYU hiring process
Anyone have any updates on NYU hiring? Had a phone interview earlier today after HR contacting back in May (and kept touch on updates via email). She said things are looking slow at NYU currently, but if she didn't reach back within the month to reach out after November 1st.

NYU new grad position
Just had my phone interview after being in contact via email since May. Just basic questions about my resume and said there isn't positions available atm, but to contact back in November ?

NYU new grad position
Any updates on their new grad listing? I’ve heard ppl got initial interviews (or phone screens), but I was contacted by HR and told to let them know when my NCLEX date was finalized so we could set up a phone screen. Found it weird bc those ppl don’t have their NCLEX dates either so getting worried lol. Anyone have any contact with NYU recently regarding the new grad position.

Northwell Health 2019 Fellowship
I recently checked my application status and just general job postings at Lenox hill and they reopened their fellowships last week. My applications status in the past listed active but I was unable to edit my application since March, but since they reposted it I can edit it so I’m thinking they haven’t even had interviews yet.

Northwell Health 2019 Fellowship
Beginning the thread for the Northwell Health Fellowships for 2019. I applied to 2 of the ED Fellowships Northwell Health offered (my finger crossed for Lenox Hill tho). The application closing dates ranged from February to still open for certain locations, but have not heard anything back yet and the application status states (Active-still accepting). If anyone has gotten any updates or has any insights on their fellowships please share!

Is it appropriate to say I have nursing experience if I have worked as a nurse's aide?
Question in application asks: "How many years of Nursing experience do you have in an acute care setting?" Been putting 0-6 mon, but would being a nurse's aide in an acute care setting mean i should count that experience?

NYP ED nurse residency 2019
Update: had a phone interview about a week ago and got the email to submit an essay last night and some of my friends got it as well . After this it seems like they'll invite us (if we are so luckily chosen) for an in-person interview on either April 8th/9th. The status on their career site is currently assessment/reference. So nervous about this since it's literally been my dream job since I started nursing school lol
