Hello I recently applied for a position at NYU, they sent me an email recently saying to complete an online questionnaire or assessment tool. Is that a good sign? Do I have a good chance of hearing back?

Same here the wait is killing me too. í ½í¸« I am trying to be patient

Hi all! Is anyone else in the application pool for a February/March 2018 start?

Hi all! Is anyone else in the application pool for a February/March 2018 start?

Hey! How do you know if you're in the application pool for February/March?

A few questions;

Have most of you applied to new grad specific job openings or unit specific? I applied to the 2017 fall new grad positing a month ago. Some of the postings say they want experience but then experience isn't listed in the bottom list of requirements.

How are you contacting recruiters? Can this only happen after they've contacted you about moving to next step?

I've been doing some flu-shot clinics in the last couple weeks, would it help to update my resume for the positions I've already applied to?

Reading some of your posts that you were contacted the day after applying has me completely losing hope. I feel like I'm missing something.

@NYnurse17- Hey! Don't feel discouraged! I applied to the New Grad position around May/June, and only heard back in September. I also applied to other positions at NYU but I only heard back for the New Grad position. In October, I had a phone screening and was then invited to an Interview Day where interviees met different Nurse Managers and Recruiters. I only contacted my specific recruiter after the Interview Day. Also, I always think it helps to update your resume! However, I also do not think they haven't reached out to you solely because of your resume, I just think the application process is super long. Especially because many of us went to the Interview Day on October 12th and have still not heard back from them in regards to getting the position. Hope this helps!

I don't know much about floors other than my own unfortunately, but I do know that NYU loves to hire new grads onto their ICU floors (not only MICU but NICU, PICU, neuro ICU, etc.). Orientations are pretty extensive for these kinds of floors, which is great for any new grad. Because of the new hospital expansion, they are also looking to hire LOTS of people, which is great!

I would say a pro of working at NYU for one would be working at a top rated facility. NYU invests tons of money into having the most up to date research, equipment, and facilities, which makes working there really great. As a new grad, another pro I would say is feeling supported. For my floor, I have frequent "check ups" with resource nurses, seminars throughout the whole year based on unit-specific topics, and a preceptor for months to shadow/work with until I feel comfortable on my own.

The only main con that I've found so far is commuting. Unless you live in the city, its not exactly easy to get to work, and parking can kind of be a mess if you chose to drive. Other than that and issues you'll find with any unit/hospital (staffing, unit management, etc.) I can't think of anything!

Also to the person who private messaged me, I can't respond yet because I haven't posted enough on allnurses but I will respond ASAP!

Thanks for sharing!!! Do they offer discounted parking or do you pay alot to drive and park?

Parking is discounted for employees but you have to submit an application to get a permit. They warn you that parking is really limited and some of my friends still haven't been approved. On the other hand, some people love it and think its super easy, so its really personal choice.

Has anyone heard anything since Thursday's email?

@bvbcljb7 haven't heard a thing... I'm assuming we'll receive an update some time this week? I hope!
